Where else should I complain?

Complaint and lament in tandem, I suppose, but complaining nonetheless. I've been in the tokusatsu fandom for nearly 20 years at this point, and just as all fandoms, nothing ever really changes. People argue over the same things over and over again. However, that is not my complaint.

My complaint is that I don't like Gozyuger. A thing I've noticed a lot in toku fandom specifically is that people usually are overly kind to the Super Sentai series as it airs, while more criticism is lobbed against Kamen Rider because it's meant for an older audience. This means that fans can sometimes excuse things that are happening in sentai that should really be addressed, but usually that only applies to whatever drama is happening outside of the series rather than inside it. Which Gozyuger has its big off-screen drama with the only female character being harassed so hard that she took to underage drinking then got fired for being caught underage drinking. Which is awful in itself, but the series was already a dud from the beginning.

And honestly... it feels like I'm the only person who sees how bad Gozyuger is...

It's never good when the Ranger team starts off as rivals to begin with, but with it being a Geats/Ryuki style "everyone is your enemy" deal in a series known for being the Team Spirit series, that's a really bad sign. I'm a handful of episodes away from the end of the series. I've endured nearly 50 episodes of this train wreck. I'm still not entirely convinced the Gozyuger team likes each other. They tolerate each other, yes, but there's no chemistry beyond that. Last week's episode had them shoehorning in a subplot that was supposed to prove that they like each other, when really it was more like coworkers carrying the load for another coworker. It was horrid to watch. There's no friendship in this series whatsoever. And it's not like this isn't the first time a team has started out hostile and became friendly. Goseiger pulled it off with the fighting angelic factions learning to get along so they could return to sentai heaven, but they managed to get the fighting out of the way within the first 10 episodes. Meanwhile, Gozyuger had them fighting even a couple weeks ago. It's frustrating. And it wasn't in a friendly tiff kind of way, either. The goal at the end is for one of these Rangers to have all the Sentai Rings. It's not like the Gokaigers who were getting the Ranger Keys; they were pirates and they were stealing them because they are pirates. It's understood in Gozyuger universe that there is only one victor. Kumeda was the last victor, that's why he's the 6th Ranger right now. He is also trying to get these goddamn rings. Wolf boy totally kicked the butt of the dino man to get his ring mid-season AND WON. And then another guy died because of that.

I just. I don't. Like. This. I don't like that the Power Rangers in my Japanese Power Rangers show do not like each other and are in a battle royale to kill each other over some gaudy rings with Power Rangers on them.

On top of that, the writer(s) doesn't know if they hate generative AI or love generative AI. The bad guys are genAI. We are supposed to be sympathetic to the bad guys for being genAI. However, they are also trying to destroy the world with genAI. This was okay during the series as a whole, since it meant the writers were kinda bouncing off each other. A similar phenomenon happened in Gavv where the head writer would write something feminist and gay, then hand off next episode's script to someone else who retconned the gay feminism, which meant the head writer had to retcon the retcon to add more gay feminism into the plot. This happens. I'm used to it. But when it's about whether or not genAI is evil, I feel like you need to make a statement especially when the villains are killing people by turning buildings in genAI slop? The most egregious episode was the Christmas episode where the robot god and his genAI wife reconciled thanks to their genAI robot god son knitting his mom a sweater. WTF? All the while, Wolf Boy is having a big incest fight with his evil genAI techbro brother, only for the evil brother to get killed and he reconciled with Wolf Boy and Wolf Boy believed hard enough for his evil brother to get reincarnated into a merchandisable plastic sword. I have seen a lot of things in tokusatsu that strains credulity, but that was extremely bad. If it had happened in a different episode, then I may have been okay with it, but it happened in the same episode that humanized the evil genAI that's been trying to destroy the world and kill all humans. I can't abide by that. It's too many redemption arcs for a 30 minute kids show.

And I'm still mad about how they dealt with the loss of the previous female Ranger by getting an actress from a different season, not even hiding the fact that she's from a previous season, incorporating that into the episode, and then pretending that this girl is somehow still the same girl. They also photoshopped the new girl's face onto the previous actor's body in one scene because they couldn't afford to reshoot it. Classy.

These are just some of my big complaints, too. I have so many smaller complaints that I can't even bother articulating, but needless to say I hate every character in the show for a myriad of reasons. What sucks the most is that this is the last Super Sentai series we're getting for a very long time. This is Hasbro's fault, but it's also the writer's fault. This is a terrible way to end a long-running franchise. I've been watching it this whole time, hopeful that it would get better, only to end up watching it to see what new and terrible scenario bleeds into the plot to make it even worse. It's been so bad that I've been rewatching King-Ohger just to remind myself of how a sentai with bickering Rangers is supposed to go. The kings in King-Ohger eventually set aside their differences as political intrigue and a larger plot forces them to become allies and eventually friends. That's how this thing is supposed to go. Gozyuger wants me to believe that these people who haven't much in the way of character development are somehow friends when they still act like they despise each other? I do not believe you, Gozyuger writers.

The most frustrating part is that I keep seeing people praising the show. They're allowed to like trash. I'm a Kiva fan; I know what it's like to enjoy a trashy terrible tokusatsu show. However, I would never praise Kiva. It's a terrible show that treats its characters like garbage and the plot gets so convoluted by the end that you're wanting to kidnap Wataru just to free him from his terrible show. The Gozyuger fans seem to think that Gozyuger is amazing and flawless. I feel like I'm losing my mind. How is no one else seeing what I'm seeing? Are we even watching the same show? AM I BEING PUNKED, WTH IS GOING ON??? THIS SHOW IS BAD!! AT LEAST ADMIT TO YOURSELVES THE SHOW IS BAD SO I DON'T FEEL LIKE I'M GOING INSANE!!!!!!!!!

Gosh. I feel miserable any time I think about Gozyuger. Thanks for reading my whining and complaints and lamentations.
