Emo / Goth / Punk [clothing centered] resources ( ´ཀ` )

Ankh

I've been trying my best to get into gothic / emo / punk clothing, but unfortunately from where I am, everything that is sligthly alternative comes with an extremely expensive price tag, and it is kinda hard to find good thrifts. Most of the tips here are kind of the tip of the iceberg, so I'm going to make a recap of the things that I've found and in case someone is interested in any of it I hope it helps as a starting point to the alternative style! (㇏(•̀ᵥᵥ•́)ノ)

- sorry if there are some grammar errors, i'm not a native speaker.

- fast fashion clothes are not punk, emo or goth. I get that it's expensive and hard to find clothes that fit and are cheap, but the style started with diy and with very low-cost materials. don't buy clothes from shein, amazon, temu, etc.

- sometimes our handmade clothes don't look as pretty or "clean" as we thought it would. that's the point!!!! we need to be messy and defy beuty standards!!!

- Don't gatekeep. if you find other resources that you'd like to share, you can do it on the comments or send me a message in case you do your own blog about punk/goth/emo fashion

- most of these resources are repetitive because there are some similarities within the subcultures. You can also use these for scene inspo but it is not focused on them.

- practise makes perfect. you can do it ٩(>ᴗ<)و

if you are a beginner when it comes to start handmade alt fashion, start with this video!:

alt diy 101 : teaches you how to handsaw, make patches, use studs/spikes/safety pins, embroidery, bleaching, dying, etc. A lot of basic stuff. Rattus rattus is full with alt content and i really recommend them!

obscure.org : Goth dances and overall info. probably the oldest website I could find when it comes to goth tips, even though it might not have everything, i found it interesting lol.

Finding all of these tutorials and tips were very useful! thanks to them i understand the cultures al lot better. but it was quite overwhelming. i recommend starting with small sewing projects like pouches and patches (handsew and with safety pins) since i don't have a sewing machine. homade pins and stickers (i enjoy these ones the most) crochet clothes / amigurumis or ceramic accessories  (⸝⸝๑  ̫ ๑⸝⸝⸝)

if you liked the resources, go and support each of the communities/forums/videos/websites/channels!
