Stupid people with pets rant

I really struggle to understand why some people choose to have a pet in the big 2026 and don’t care for it the way they should. Do they not understand that it is a literal living being? Do they think that because it’s an animal, it doesn’t have thoughts or needs? I always struggle to wrap my head around why these kinds of people even have pets.

A few months ago, my neighbours adopted a kitten because their 4yo CHILD wanted it, which is a problem in itself. But what bothers me the most is the fact that these people used to have a dog, an adorable little pug, that they gave away after years of having it because they had a child and “didn’t have time” for a dog anymore. Now why would you go and get a kitten then???

Another not so fun thing is that they always kept this dog inside; they barely let it out. And when they got the cat, they decided that the cat would only be outside. (A LITERAL KITTEN MIND U) Now tell me, where’s the logic in that? Because I don’t see it!?

  1. You get a cat because the child wants it

  2. You always have it roaming around, so the child never sees it or even acknowledges that it’s there

WHAT THE FUCK!?

Fast forward three months: the cat is most likely dead. Most of the time it was sleeping in my garage because it found a way to get in and it was cold. But a young, not-spayed cat will roam around and eventually get itself killed. It got lost four times while they had it, and once it even got badly hurt, and they still continued to let it outside. It is mind boggling to me how you can be this stupid.

Another point of view is how some people don’t see their pet as part of their household or even their family. They just see it as something to show off and say, “Oh yeah, I have a pet!” And this angers me so much as someone who really loves animals. See, my dog almost died yesterday because of a tumour, and I genuinely cried the whole time we weren’t sure if he was going to make it. I was so worried that I didn’t go to school. And some people have the audacity to say, “Well, it’s just a dog?”

No, man!? it’s not just a dog. I grew up with him. I still see him as my little animal brother, and it will break me when he someday dies. The same goes for all my pets. I think it’s beautiful when people have a strong connection with their pets because they depend on you, you are their world, so why shouldn’t they be yours?

Rant over! Very sorry for my bad writing, English is not my first language!
