I promise One day I’ll quit the urge to get a neck tattoo Skip stones and walk with both of my feet Planted on the ground-one after another Securely. Watching all these birds fly by. One day I’ll quit. My eyes cannot betray me. But when my hands shake I might need you to hold me. I’ll be crying my lungs out anyways. Cause I could listen to you talk all the time. I know if I said it you wouldn’t judge me. But if I don’t have all this pain to write from will you still want to read my poetry? And what of all the lives we could’ve had if you had not chosen to reach for the good within me when the was light is so dim and the shadows grew weary And forgiveness is a want curling inside me.
I promise
