I had a weird dream last night

CW: Self-harm(?), Strangulation, Blood, Generally gross imagery

I awoke on the floor of my kitchen, groggy. It felt like the air around me had become viscous and sticky like syrup. I sat up and looked around. It seemed like there was a family party going on, but everything was blurry, every sound dull and muted. I was wearing a turtleneck, it felt too itchy, too tight. Something cut through the numbness. Pain. I looked down at my hands and found them covered in bleeding cuts. In my right hand, I held the blade of an old-school shaving razor. I stood up, but no one seemed to notice me. I approached my father.

"Do you know where this goes?" I asked him, holding up the blade.

He ignored me. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around. You were there, the only clear image my eyes could see. You took the blade from me and put it in your pocket. Then, you took me by the hand and led me down a hall and into a bathroom. I felt something sting and scratch at my neck under my shirt. There was something else too, something warm and unpleasant. More blood. I understood then that my hands were not the only thing to be cut by that blade.

"Show me," you said. Your expression was strange, something I couldn't quite interpret.

I removed my shirt to reveal a long, shallow cut encircling my throat. You frowned slightly (or grinned?). For a while, we just stared into the mirror, watching the blood slowly trickle down. Little green shoots began to make their way out of my skin, as though the cut was a crack in a sidewalk. They grew and grew until my throat was wrapped in thick, thorny vines. I looked to you for help. You wouldn't meet my gaze. The more I struggled against the vines, the tighter they wound. Eventually, I was overcome by a boozy lightheadedness. As I began to stop fighting, buds grew on the vines, and they bloomed until I was being strangled by the most beautiful flowers I had ever seen. You watched with an expression of pity (disappointment?). The moment I felt as though I could no longer hold on to consciousness, I awoke.

Pretty weird, huh?
