In my state there is a law stating there are only two genders; recently I've come to terms that my "gender" is out of the social binary of male and female, and while publicly I haven't come out with using they/them to other people besides my boyfriend and his family, I feel that I HAVE to be a certain way based on this society, and even in queer circles there's this need to "pass" and that's not what I want to do. I am neither male nor female; I am simply not, yet my safety is rooted in "a" or "b" because there's no "other" option.
Any folks feel the same in a way?
