an unnecessarily deep look into will wood because nobody in my life cares as much as I do:

Ok, I know that probably nobody cares; however, I NEED to talk about Will Wood, so this is how I’m going to do it.

Will Wood is a music artist that was somewhat popular amidst “weird kids” in, like, 2020, though he started making music in 2015, with his debut album being Everything Is a Lot with the Tapeworms (the band he plays with). But he isn’t like some of the others you may think of from that time, such as anything hyperpop or something like Penelope Scott. And don’t get me wrong, I do love those artists, but something about Will Wood is different.

And by that, I mean his music doesn’t feel how they do. Like, for example, Penelope Scott’s music feels, in my opinion, at least a tad bit performative, as if it is made specifically to reach those aforementioned “weird kids,” whereas Will, again, in my opinion, uses his music as a way to express himself in a more truthful and raw way. And I feel like the best way I can put that into words is to steal a quote from him, and that quote is:

“I feel like so many bands, they just pick a genre and then just try their best to stick within those parameters.”

And I think that is a really good way to put it, because I have had that thought before and didn’t know how to put it into words (I’m kinda dumb). I really like how he manages to juggle so many different kinds of music, and he still does all of them so well. Here are a few of his songs, so you can get a grasp on what I mean when I say so many of his songs sound so different.

And that’s just a few to give you an idea. There are so many more, and if I had the time or energy, I would have added probably close to ten or more songs just to start showing how wide his variety spans. However, I don’t think anyone but me cares that much, so I won’t.

He writes a lot, among other topics, about his past struggles with mental health as well as drug use, which are both topics that I can relate to to some extent, adding another layer to the already great music he makes. And I could do very extensive deep dives into many of his songs, but again, I don’t think anyone cares enough for that.

As well as being an independent artist, he also makes music with a band called the Tapeworms—hence Will Wood and the Tapeworms.

he's also just a funny guy who has done multiple comedy performances my favorite being his comedy hour performance but there are many great ones out there.

now for my favorite time! fun fact time!

1. he is Jewish and comedically describes himself in one of his shows as "just Jewish enough for it to matter"

2. he does not like, in fact hates, most social media especially short-form content and when asked how he copes with knowing a large percent of his following comes from the thing he's so adamite about hating he simply replied "I don't" 

3. he has been arrested twice. both times for drug related incidents

4.in 2020 he created a mockumentary called the real Will Wood with the description reading "this film seeks one answer, who is Will Wood?"

5. he was briefly known as William sunshine for a while whilst in a band called jam face
