welcome to the first of my weekly blogs for 2026! ...which i will hopefully continue after this. but we'll see i guess. LOL
i actually had another blog entry i was gonna post last sunday, but, uh... i never finished it. my mental state took a complete nosedive this week so i didn't really have any motivation aaaand now i feel like it's kinda too late. maybe i'll complete it soon though? it was a recap of my 2025 which was pretty interesting imo... guess we'll see if that ever gets published. haha
so! let's go through my first full week in 2026.

woke up at my parents' house cause i spent the night! got to have a good breakfast and got a peppermint mocha latte from a local cafe. pretty good but the coffee shop that i originally really wanted to go to wasn't open on sundays :/ my mom got a statue of the virgin mary delivered to our house from the church for some reason?? o_O not the first time either... apparently you can just ask for them to take it to your house for like a week and then they pick it up... quite odd.
i also got to redye my bleach-stained jeans!! it really bummed me out that they got bleach splattered on them from work because they fit so well on me and are so comfy :( but the dye turned out REALLY good zomfg... they look like a pair of brand new pants!! i don't have a super good picture but here's an outfit i made with them after the dye process was done :-)

went back up to my apartment at around 6 PM or so! had to go to bed early though because my coworker who was supposed to shift lead the next day didn't want to open and asked me to -_- of course i said yes cause i need the money but like blueghhh

had to get up bright and early at 8 AM to be able to eat breakfast and get ready in time for work. gross. went in to open at 9:30 AM. admittedly i do kind of like opening because i'm completely by myself for an hour and a half and i can just play whatever music i want while i do my tasks and whatnot. aforementioned coworker texted me like 30 minutes before they were supposed to come in and asked me if we had masks. which is never a good sign. i went and looked and of course, we had none. after delivering this news to my coworker, they went Oh yeah my entire family has the flu and i woke up sick lol. cool! i told them NOT to come in because i was already having a rough time mentally and i did not need the flu on top of everything else. they had to be thoroughly convinced which is kinda crazy but. whatever. i had one of my other coworkers come in early at around 2 PM so i wasn't alone the entire shift which was nice! it was pretty chill otherwise. not much to complain about.
it was warm enough to go on a walk after i got out at around 5 PM, so that's what i did. i ended up walking 2.1 miles and saw a herd of deer while i was on campus!

so i took my friend candy and we hauled ass to the nearest apple store - which conveniently was also in the mall! it was super weird because the last time i was physically in the apple store was like 10 years ago when i was getting an ipod touch as a kid LOL. it's a lot more overstimulating than i remember... the person who was helping me was kind of incredulous at the
fact that i brought my phone in a day before my warranty expired LMFAO (in her words: "GIRL. you are cutting it CLOSE.").
she was super cool though and she complimented my nails :D after leaving my phone with the Apple Geniuses or whatever the hell they call them they told us to come back in an hour so we wandered around the mall for a little bit.
admittedly, it was really weird not having my phone on me at all, even if it was only for a little bit. kids these days and their Damn Phones... smh my head...
we went into a few stores, but i only ended up actually buying stuff from spencers. just a few buttons and a shirt i thought was kind of funny and it was also on clearance for 5 bucks. it's a size small so i was planning on turning it into a tank top so i wouldn't have to worry about the sleeves not fitting on me hehe.

got back to the apple store at around 3:45 PM and they were just finishing up with my phone! we sat there waiting for a little bit and then they came out and were super apologetic because apparently they accidentally stripped a screw trying to put my phone back together LMFAOOOO. it didn't really matter though cause it was right by the charging port and it gets covered up by my case anyways so idgaf. but if i ever bring my phone back in for a repair they'll replace it for free! also because they replaced my entire screen it extended my warranty by 90 days. how splendid.
on our way back from the mall, candy and i ordered wingstop for pickup... yuuum... we ended up just splitting a meal with 6 tenders in it with lemon pepper seasoning! very economical option. before we picked it up and went back to their apartment, though, we stopped at five below so i could get a new screen protector since i had to take my last one off before it got fixed :P
once the goods were secured, we went back to candy's new apartment and just chilled out in their living room watching youtube and eating wingstop. they don't really have a couch or a coffee table yet so we were just sitting on the floor LMFAO
overall, pretty eventful day off! but i had to go to bed early again because i had to open the next morning. again. sigh.

another bright and early morning! got there a little bit early because i stopped at dunkin beforehand to get a sandwich - which gave me some more time to just chill and open in peace. it was pretty slow again - but not surprising considering most people were still away on winter break anyways. my boss came in and surprised me with an employee appreciation gift though! a little while back she posted something on the instagram page asking people who their favorite employee was and to DM her with someone's name. someone brought up my name, so she gave me a gift! it was a stocking with a red (!!) tumbler, some christmas themed sour patch kids and gummy bears, reese's cups, a claw clip (that i ended up giving to my coworker because it was a pink coquettish bow... totally not my aesthetic), and bafflingly enough, a tin of lip balm. interesting assortment of gifts, but i appreciate it nonetheless!

ate some leftover mashed potatoes my dad made me for dinner... they were sooo good. they were "loaded", which meant that they had cheddar cheese, green onions, and bacon... fuuuuck i'm salivating just thinking about it

thursday is one of the other days i have off from work! because of my really really really bad mental state (and a few unmentioned breakdowns that i didn't really want to go into) i wanted to try to treat myself to a nice relaxed day on my own. it's kind of like an apology to myself for the overwhelming self-loathing and self-sabotage.
anyways. it was a beautiful day outside - finally. the weather had been really gross for the past few days, but the sun was finally out so i wanted to take advantage of it and spend as much time outside of my apartment as possible! first thing i did was hit up my nearest goodwill and perused the wares. they rearranged the entire store again so it was kind of disorienting @_@ also i felt like i was getting stared at the entire time which didn't feel great. ultimately ended up getting out of there as soon as i could but not before leaving with a picture frame that says "All You Need Is Love And A Horse" with a photo of someone and their horse. it really endeared me. i don't really know what i'm going to replace the photo with. maybe i'll just keep it.
after that, though, i stopped by the antique store next to where i work and... found something really interesting. a PS2 with a controller, the power and display cords, and 9 games, all for 95 bucks. now, really, i had never considered getting a PS2 before, but... it tempted me. after consulting my friends, one of them told me it was a REALLY good deal for a PS2. wasn't really sure if i could justify a 95 dollar purchase, though, so i moved on and continued to look around the store. i ended up getting a silly little propeller hat for my friend that it reminded me of and a really cool set of 90s pizza hut-esque plastic cups! it was only 3 bucks for all 7.

but i went back to my car and sat there for a little bit in the parking lot. i was still thinking about that damn PS2. after some further deliberation, i thought, fuck it, when am i ever going to see a deal like that anywhere else? i headed back into the store, and the first words out of my mouth to the lady at the counter were "the PS2 for sale, it works, right?"
turns out, it used to be her own PS2! so she was able to personally assure me that it worked and that she had just tested it out the day before. the only thing was that she had forgotten the power cord at her house and needed to go back and grab it. luckily, i had a shift the next day and we agreed that i could just come in at 4:30 before my shift at 5 and pick the PS2 and everything up then! she went ahead and put up a "not for sale" sign, and i was on my merry way!
i had to go stop at the ATM afterwards so i could pay in cash - it's a small business, and they tack on a credit card fee when you use a card so i wanted to make things a little bit easier for both of us by just using good ol' cash. the nearest ATM that works with my bank for some reason was a bit of a hike in the other direction, but the upside is that i was able to use it as an excuse to get 7 brew XP i got a cookie butter latte... sooo good! highly recommend.
once i got back to my apartment and hung around for a bit, i went on another walk! it was nearly 60 degrees out and the weather was perfect which made it really easy to walk around for a super long time... i ended up walking a whole 4 miles!! which is my new personal record i think :D i actually really love going on walks because it feels like i'm in my own little world when i have my headphones on. living near campus makes it super easy too because it's all paved sidewalks and mostly flat surfaces!

had a bit of a hard time getting up this morning - but was forced to once i got a text from my roommate saying he was coming back from break later that day -_- eughhh. weirdly he didn't specify what time so i kind of had to wring that information out of him. thankfully it turned out he wasn't gonna get back until 5 PM, and by that point, i would already have left for work. for context, i have three roommates, and all of them left for winter break, so i was completely alone for the entirety of break. which was really nice! considering i kind of hate having roommates. i don't have a problem with them personally, really, i just don't like not having my living space entirely to myself. i think when i move out i'm gonna try to get a studio apartment.
it was 60 degrees again, so i decided to go on a short walk before i left for work! only about a mile this time. i just wanted to enjoy the weather because i wouldn't be able to go outside while i was at work obviously. what i DIDN'T anticipate was how damn windy it was!! apparently there were gusts up to 44 mph!! and i definitely felt like that was accurate, considering my hat and my headphones blew clean off of my head multiple times. it doesn't help that campus is kind of built like a wind tunnel in some places. >_>
stopped by taco bell to redeem my coupon for a 2.22 cantina chicken taco before i had to leave to go grab the PS2 before work! i also got nacho fries, a classic stacker, and, of course, a baja blast. honestly i really liked the cantina chicken taco but i don't think i would really get it again? i mostly like to just stick to my regular stuff i think...
arrived at the antique store at 4:30 on the dot! the person working behind the counter was different from the one who owned the PS2 but she had clearly been caught up to speed because as soon as i mentioned the PS2 she recognized me. i was in and out with the PS2 within 10 minutes! she had it hooked up to a TV in the back of the store just so she could show that it worked. she even offered to let me play, but i had to decline just because i had to go to work afterwards and i didn't wanna get sucked in X)

work was awesome! my two coworkers i close with on fridays are SO good at their jobs it's insane. i'm a shift lead but they take off a lot of the burden of my tasks, which was especially helpful as i started to kind of mentally decline towards the end of the shift. there was a group of really annoying customers towards the end that stood around despite all the chairs being up on the tables and then left and made the trash can REEK of cigs for some reason? i don't even know how that happened.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 1/10 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆
decided to go back to my parents' again for dinner because one of my other roommates (unfortunately also the one i don't really mesh with at all) was coming back later that day and i didn't really wanna stick around for that. left at around 1 PM - but not before stopping at dunkin again because i was really, really craving a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. and then i took a pit stop at my job to get a free drink because i didn't wanna pay for a coffee LOL. i got an osmanthus honey milk tea :3 super delish
the PS2 remained in the back seat of my car since the day before because i wanted to take it home to show my dad. i knew he probably had a bunch of adapters lying around, one of which was prooobably a composite-to-HDMI cable that i could use to hook the PS2 up to a modern-day monitor. sure enough, once i got home and showed him what i was working with, he was able to hook me up with most of the stuff i needed to set up the PS2! he did very kindly also order a memory card (which wasn't included for some reason?) for me off of amazon. thanks dad.
for dinner, i had some absolutely incredible chicken and dumpling soup. so worth the drive home. :-)
