I feel like a poser. Im not going to lie here, its my blog and i say only the truth, I NEED TO KNOW MORE EMO BANDS!! <////3
I tried looking up on google and wikipedia what makes a band '' emo '', but i only found some posts on reddit that werent helping! they were saying that '' everything that is emotional is emo '' but others were saying '' not everything that is emotional is emo '', it was making me really confused so i gave up
If you guys have any emo bands/songs recommendations, please share them with me!! <3
For emo music, I look into songs from mid 90s through the early 10s that have emotional lyrics and tones. I feel like what could be considered emo music would be Evanescence, The Used, Bring Me To The Horizon, Sleeping With Sirens, Green Day (maybe-), Pierce The Veil, Picture Me Broken (Really good band I would recommend. You should listen to Vital Signs!), A Day To Remember, Flyleaf, Fireflight ("For Those Who Wait" is a great song!), Sunny Day Real Estate, Midtown, Fall Out Boy, Hey Monday!, Paramore, Isles & Glaciers, Black Veil Brides, Get Scared (One of my favorite bands XD), Emery, Mae, Wolves At The Gate, and Subseven!
also lowkey i sooooo get feelin like a poser. My "emo" playlist is like 1/4 emotional hardcore, 1/2 post hardcore, 1/4 2000s pop punk for the funz but...uuuuuuh keep that a secret from all the other emoz
Emo standz for emotional hardcore and this reddit post can summarize a lil bit of the history it haz https://www.reddit.com/r/Emo/comments/y5iwan/emo_waves/
More history https://www.fourfa.com/
While wikipedia waz kinda right with it bein like emotional itz more than dat :/ it bein more feelin centered iz what seperatez it from like normal hardcore tho
I personally like Hot Mulligan and La Dispute
Also fun fact, a lot of bandz that are like really popular in the emo subculture ( MCR, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, Hail the Sun ) aren't actual emotional hardcore but post hardcore
( I think the difference waz like emotional hardcore iz more punk like but over time bandz started driftin away from that sound so now we have post hardcore )
Diz'll set ya right for more recz https://www.reddit.com/r/Emo/comments/1pplxde/emo_recommendations_from_the_90s_revival_etc/
