Journalism in movies

I think that every1 knows those iconic movies from the 00's or 90's where the womans are journalists. And I was thinking, what is so interesting in journalism, that always seems to be the best choice for their career? 

Let's think about it: What better way to show the main character's thoughts than journalism? Becaue it's abolutely the most beneficial way to subtly expose one's thoughts- you get to write iconic lines, tell the story and give depth to the character! 

I absolutely love when something like this is put in a movies. Even better when the girlie is writing a diary (wink, Bridget Jones's diary, wink ;) )
