Blackwashing

I really don't get why would someone do it. "It's to have more representation!" blackwashing doesn't add any representation to a piece of media whatsoever. It's just kinda stupid.

If you really want to see black characters, watch media that does involve them, or is created by black people themselves (saying this especially because most blackwashers watch anime, and i have to say that true, in a lot of animes there isn't too much black represenation, but that doesn't give you the right to just change their skin colour, come on now). And if you do watch media that has black characters in them (obviously, not portrayed stereotypically etc etc) then blackwashing is even dumber (cough cough owl house fandom).

Yes, i know that whitewashing is way worse, because there isn't a single excuse on why would you make a POC character white, but here i'm talking exclusively about blackwashing, so you know.

ALSO there are "alternatives" to blackwashing, such as drawing yourself cosplaying the character or creating a black self insert OC as a friend of your favourite character. No need to change a characters damn skin color.
