Our Parents Had It Easy Semi-Rant

I honestly just want to start off by saying fuck the rich.

Imagine being born in the 70s-early90s and literally living your early years and 20s in the absolute best times. On top of that, getting a career and a home was ridiculously cheap and easier. you could literally have the best times of your life and still be able to live off of just minimum wage.

Now I will admit, being born exactly in the year 2000 was pretty nice as a kid. I grew up with a lot of the 90s technology, shows, music, childhood, etc. and grew up when technology was becoming advance. I loved playing outside and still having the option to play the wii, on a gameboy, shit I still have my pink DSI to this day and pick it up from time to time. I loved watching MTV, Much music, Family channel, Disney XD (Keep in ming I am Canadian so these were our channels). But to be an adult now where the housing market is obnoxiously high and ridiculous, can't do shit without regretting it later unless you actually have a job that pays you more that $19/hr, and if your parents aren't well off, you have no choice but to drown in student loans or you literally cannot afford school. Hell many of my friends literally buy food then regret it later because of how expensive it is (crazy I know lol).

One thing I really hate is how some of the older generations don't even realize how easy they had it, I mean maybe they do because they are the ones that kinda ruined it for us (lol but real because they need to be clocked).

If I had the chance, I would've told my younger self to honestly save from when I had my first job, just save as much as possible and maybe even work two jobs if I could.

This year, I just want to really focus on University as I am starting in September and just put my focus on getting a better job, double my savings and just hope to have a different outlook on life now.

Anywho, I hope I’m not the only one that feels that way, what are your thoughts?

I know there are still a few years left before going to university, but I think you’re right. I wouldn’t have liked living in the 70s because of the military dictatorship in my country, but I would have loved being born in the 90s.
Even though my family isn’t wealthy, my mom earns well thanks to her experience, so I don’t think I’ll live badly, but I’m still pretty scared about what’s coming in the next few years.
That’s why, when I turn 16, I want to start working part-time in anything, because I know I can’t ask my parents for things. I’m not someone who asks for stuff—I only do it if I really need it or truly want something. And even though it bothers me when my siblings or others ask me for money, I almost always end up agreeing
