I had a rando assignment in English about 2 days ago which prompted us to write a 6 line rhyming poem about anything. Me and my brother had got to talking about supernatural myths and legends such as skinwalkers and wendigos some days prior, and in that Convo I brought up to him a phrase or term I couldn't put my finger on but knew it meant to conjure something by saying, thinking, or giving too much belief into it. He told me it would be called an egregore or tulpa. So I took this convo with him and used it for my poem. It made me think as a deconstructing Christian, what if God was something we gave power to like how some people say? Or what if he is real and he created us to be fans of his one man show...Anyway, this is the poem. It's pretty mediocre considering I suck at writing and am still in highschool.
EGREGORE
A thought takes shape, a spirit born
From hearts that pray, at dusk and morn
A faith we hold, a promising guide
But truth's reflection, deep inside
May hide deceit, or the salvation we crave
So what is real, beyond the grave?
