Homestuck is a chronic illness I love and I hope no one finds a cure for it.

Ok. I know. I'm EXTREMELY BIASED. I have always had an interest in this kind of media, therefore it just speaks to me. BUT, HEAR ME OUT. I'm gonna give you the best sales pitch you will ever see in your entire lifetime.

If you have ever watched a netflix series, you'll know that the majority of series are cut short. At least 3 seasons. Of course, there are non netflix originals that span to 6 or more seasons but they often get taken off due to the license expiring or wtvr. READING HOMESTUCK IS THE OPPOSITE AND ODDLY ADDICTING.

I know the netflix analogy was strange as fuck, but sit down for a second. Many people are used to stories and movies and series and whatnot getting taken off streaming platforms. Yet, something that will never get taken off the internet is something EXTREMELY ARCHIVED!! Homestuck, wink wink. Therefore, you'll never have to worry about losing the comic. There are also PHYSICAL COPIES, albeit how expensive the copies are.

Now, back to the netflix analogy stringed in, HOMESTUCK HAS LOTS OF PAGES AND PANELS. This isn't counting Beyond Canon, Paradox Space(technically a graphic novel/anthology), nor any spin off works by Andrew Hussie himself or fanworks. WHICH YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT.

You have a lot of additional content ON TOP of the original comic and its acts in the first run. It is the fandom of fandoms. The fans have made plenty of are and fanfics and everything. Lots still do TO THIS DAY. ALMOST A DECADE AFTER THE ENDING OF THE ORIGINAL!!!!

You never have to worry about content being not accessible or super hard to find (at least for another 5 or 10 years i would guess.) The homestuck fandom, though not as huge as it was in its hayday, still has a loyal fanbase keeping itself alive. This much so since the pilot released and brought many new fans in. I wouldn't recommend the pilot since it isn't the BEST adaption, but if you watch it anyway, take the characterization and anything it implies with a grain of salt.

Now, just to be clear, IT IS COMPLICATED. If you just started the comic and still don't understand the modus or how sburb works or ANYTHING HAPPENING, IT IS NORMAL. It's wacky and strange and a reflection of the random humor of the timing of its release. I still have to do external research for some of the things I dont entirely understand and need context for just for my own knowledge (I.e the troll romance quadrants) and I mostly get this info from some of my online friends who read it or info from the Homestuck Wiki/MSPA wiki.

Now, I know this is a ton to take in, BUT THAT'S HOMESTUCK 4 U!!

Its a complicated mess you need to decipher if its ur first read thru. For me, I'm only around I think the first or second act of Act 5. It is going to be hell, but it'll be the best hell you have ever seen GOD DAMN IT.

If you wanna read homestuck, I implore you to try. If you're unsure and DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT (i should've done this at the start,) I will leave a synopsis here:

charting the epic story of four kids (John, Rose, Dave, Jade) playing a reality-bending computer game called Sburb, which accidentally ends the world and forces them to team up with 12 alien trolls to fix it, involving complex timelines, parallel universes, and a massive cast.

MSPA wiki doesn't write a synopsis on the homestuck subcategory on their site, but this pretty much sums it up to a tee. I would commend you to do your own research or read it on your own to find out if its really for you. I know theres the og lets read on yt and L Void also has them all up to act 3 (his read over of act 1 actually got me to try and read it after failing the first time, so maybe those videos can jumpstart you like they did to me.)

Anyways, feel free to reply and add any additional info. Homestuck truly is one of a kind and we probably wont see anything of its caliber EVER. It was heavily reliant on meta humor that we really couldn't recreate now without some discrepancies.

I hope this made you consider to read the absolute mind numbing plot that is homestuck and you seriously get into it. I REALLY NEED MORE HOMESTUCK FANS, PLEASEEE.

xoxo, mars <3
