Hey so, Iām new here and Iām still learning how everything works in Spacehey, so I figured Iād make my first blog. I had a plan to drop a big retrospective of every piece of media I have āconsumedā, for lack of a better term, in 2025, unfortunately I kinda scrapped that. But I still wanted to give a little retrospective of 2025 so thatās where this is going.
This is a list of stuff I played, watched, read⦠etc in 2025. Again, just things I had my fun with in 2025, not stuff in general that got big last year. Not an exhaustive list, just a list of things that I enjoyed more than I thought I would. That being said htere are two things I must specify before getting into the meat and potatoes of this list;
⢠As mentioned; This list includes stuff I experienced in 2025. It doesnāt matter if the piece of media came out before 2025. I first engaged with it in 2025, and they were part of my year, so Iām counting them.
⢠This is a list of five things I did not expect to be as enjoyable as they were, plus some honorable mentions. But it is not a top, just a list of things that surprised me in a good way. I liked some of these things better than others but that has no baring on the order I listed them in.
⢠Iām only counting smaller projects; Sure, Kpop Demon Hunters was a big surprise I did not expect to be this good, but literally everyone has heard of it. Sure, Horimiya managed to completelly shift my opinion on romance as a genere to a positive one. But it's already known for being a great show. Those are relativelly well known pieces of media with a sizeable fandom. I want to share smaller things that you might not know about.
So with that being said, letās begin.
Star Catcher
Star Catcher has to be one of my fave webtoons in recent memory. At first I thought nothing of it, it was a little thing I caught a friend reading, it seemed wholesome and I digged the artstyle. That is until I started reading it. Safe to say, I inmediately became unable to put it down. This thing is an adorable little slice-of-life college romance about two sweet yet relatable gay dorks that has very respectfull portrayals of mental health issues, and a cast of secondary goobers who are almost as likeable as the main duo. It is sickeningly sweet at times, but I donāt care, I ate it right up without even the slightest bit of shame. It genuinelly helped me get through 2025 and will be a nice pallete cleanse after every damn thing that has happened and is still happening out there lately.

Rental
Short, sweet, and completelly free on steam if I remember correctly. Rental is a cozy little game with a low poly PS1 game vibe and sanrio-like character design that I found out thanks to this one discord gif I donāt remember saving. It is a tiny āhorrorā game that more than scary is spooky and even cozy, about a kid who gets trapped in a weird haunted house during a family vacation. There isnāt much to it and once you know what youāre doing it is pretty simple and fast to beat. But for what itās worth it can still be a fun way to kill time on a random evening during spooky season.
Bloom
This is a little graphic novel I randomly picked up on a random trip to my local library because I thought the artstyle looked cute. Only for it to hit way harder than I expected. A sweet and fun m4m graphic novel about the sometimes daunting task that answering āWhat do you want to do?ā can be once you leave high school. The story is about a recently graduated boy who is constantly being pulled in two directions; Moving out and pursuing a musical career with the rest of the band, or staying home and continuing to work in the family bakery like his dad wants. He then meeting his new coworker, the new guy in town with whom heāll grow real close to. It is light, sweet, with authentic depictions of family problems, friendship struggles, and potential romance, with a genuinely lovable cast and beautiful art. It specially hit me in a weird way as I found the main character weirdly relatable and it even allowed me to get closure on some issues of my own.
May I ask for one final thing?
Alright, hear me out. A revenge story involving rich assholes getting their asses kicked. But itās a random princess personaly kicking their teeth in with her bare fists. I actually though this would be one of those shows that sound way more fun in paper and which you drop after a few eps, boy am I happy to stand corrected. I was inmediately hooked just from the concept alone, this show is not anything deep, itās not gonna win anime of the year, itās tropey, thereās too much shit going on in the story, the animation is serviceable⦠But oh my god is it an absolute blast. This show is pure dumb fun, and it doesnāt try to hide it, itās dynamic, actually funny, and the entire point is to have shitheads in high positions getting punched into oblivion, carried specially by the great character interactions and the banger of a dub the english voice actors cooked up. The bad guy is some femcell who got isekaid into that world, thatās already hilarious on its own. Itās not my fave anime of this year, but it sure as hell is on the top 5 at the very least.

The Three Wise Men vs Santa
So, quick context. In Spain, as part of christmas traditions, and for religious reasons we get this winter holiday on January by the name of Three Kingās Day. Itās basically christmas again, but this time itās the movieās titular three wise men (the guys from the bible) that bring you presents instead of Santa. We still have regular christmas tho, we just celebrate both things. This is important to know as this is a spanish movie and without any context on why these three guys are so important youāll probably be pretty confused.
So uh, spanish comedy movies, am I right? We donāt really have the best track record with them. Most of the time theyāre pretty bad, with unfunny jokes made for your annoying uncle, and genuinelly unbearably annoying characters. So what about it is special enough about this? Well, you can actually tell that they tried. This actually feels like a movie rather than a really long tv special. There is a whimsy, a heart even that you donāt see in other movies of the type. The best part is the set and costume design which are actually pretty good, they also put actual budget into special effects. They have cameos of so many folklore beings from all over europe that they did research into, portrayed for once in a not offensive way which is new for spanish cinema. This also has one of the most fun portrayals of Santa Claus Iāve seen on film, he steals every scene heās in. It is a messy movie, the third act kinda drops the ball, Krampus looks really fake compared to everyone else, and at times it gets tropey and predictable. But the movie feels sincere and itās clear that this was an earnest attempt at a good movie, which was a massive surprise knowing what usually tends to happen with these types of productions.
