Okay so if you liked my first analysis I actually love you and here is my second which is Mikami. I was a bit stupid when writing this back then, if you can notice. Also Mikami is one of my comfort characters and I genuinely love him so much. I relate to him sometimes with his sense of misplaced devotion and I think his character is so incredibly interesting.
This was also originally written 8 December 2025 btw and did indeed also contains a pic I have no idea how to add.

Teru Mikami
Teru Mikami was the last “villain” I expected to meet in Death Note.
He played a similar role as Kira like Light, but instead of following Misa’s example and killing for the mere want of attention, he instead was chosen by Kira because he shared similar values.
He worshipped Kira and saw him as the embodiment of good, because once again Kira had saved him from the people who “got in his way”.
Regarding the issues I heard about Mikami’s character is him being “out of character” last episode, just not having anything interesting about him at all or being stupid for messing up Light Yagami’s plan and that the only reason why Light lost in the first place was because Mikami was used as “plot armor” for Near (which, I cannot disagree Near had some insane plot armor).
We see similar in Misa the desperation that is shown to get Kira’s approval and admiration.
Mikami and Light had an insane amount of similarities, not only in their mindset but also in their logical way of thinking. They both thought that Kiyomi Takada had to die, that she was just a nuance and without being discussed they both wrote down her date of death at the exact moment.
Mikami was ready to kill the entire task force and SPK because he knew they were in the way of his God, he knew that if the ones that stood in Light’s way were dead he’d become the new God of the world and Mikami would then be his right hand.
Mikami wanted to prove himself to Light, prove that he was worthy to be Kira’s right hand.
Though being a rational and cold man, his obsession with justice and his idea of right and wrong was what brought him to his knees for Kira.
Mikami represents the desperate mortal in need of guidance who lashes on the first very fortunate coincidence to be divine intervention.
His desire to praise Light simply came from his strong desire to praise justice.
Light wanted criminals gone to create the perfect world, I strongly believe Mikami wanted criminals gone to prove to himself that all the effort he had put into “good” had been worth it.
—Mikami’s decision to kill Kiyomi is incredibly in character. Even though he felt honored being chosen by his god, he realized that if the task force was gone the only one standing in his way of being Kira’s right hand would be Takada Kiyomi. I love the way that Mikami is so shallow on the surface but so layered if you explore him and his character in a deeper sense. In their sense of character Mikami and Misa are similar in their devotion to Kira, but their motive differentiate.
I need to be severely humbled because I realized the reason they killed Takada, wasn't because of any reason I stated above but because they couldn't guarantee she would keep quiet. They needed to have her dead, because she was capturd and there was a possibility that she would spill.
Now, I still don't think Mikami did anything wrong, considering that Takada was their spoke person and channeled everything Light said to her, to Mikami, because they couldn't have direct contact. Mikami made the smart decision to kill Takada, because he had no other choice and no other way to contact Yagami or know what his plan was, he was completely in the dark and logically he acted well. It wasn't his fault Light loss.
It was the fact that Mello acted impulsively and did something no one was prepared for. They couldn't even discuss a back up plan just in case something happened to Takada (or any other of them), because she was the spokes person and they're not going to TELL her they plan to kill her if something goes wrong. )15-12-25(

Also when I said ''spokes person'' here, I used the word very loosely and not in it's term but I meant that Takada was the ones that channeled all the information and she was kind of the ''middle man'' if this is said right. I am not entirely content with this analysis, so I'll ever like update this or something
If you read this you're super cool okay bye
