Category: Romance and Relationships

DEPOIS

My first and possibly only blog post, I don't know how one works because I'm a modern young person, haha , but today I want to write about healing and overcoming, specifically for those who have been frustrated in a romantic relationship or have had a painful breakup. It's more to help me cope with what I'm going through, but maybe (I hope) it will help someone else too.

"por um puro início
Por um tempo novo
sem mancha nem vício"
Revolução, Sophia de Mello

"The old things have passed away; behold, new things have come!"
1 Corinthians 5:17

When a relationship doesn't work out, it’s completely normal to feel down, sad, and even a little depressed. After all, you’re human, and humans have feelings. Emotions are part of who we are, and disappointment will always be a part of life. However, you have to be careful not to punish yourself just because things didn’t go as planned or how you felt you deserved. And that’s okay.

The first step to healing is accepting the other person's reality. We need to know when it’s time to leave and understand that it’s okay if someone doesn’t want to stay in our lives. That person isn't necessarily manipulative or a "monster", they also have the right to choose. So, learn not to expect anything from anyone and stop making up scenarios in your head. Nobody is perfect, and people will rarely live up to all your expectations.

Finally, never let anyone make you feel humiliated for expressing your feelings. Say what you feel, and if they don’t value it, walk away with a light heart, knowing you did what you could. The capacity to love belongs to you, if you loved someone once, you can love again. Also, don’t criticize the person who let you down, as that will only make you suffer more. The past is a fact, and criticism won't help heal the wound. Life goes on, and holding onto resentment makes no sense. Forgive, let go, and move forward.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

Matthew 5:4

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Matthew 11:28-30

“o que começa terá seu final

isso é normal

isso é normal

a dor do fim vem pra purificar

recomeçar

recomeçar”

Recomeçar, Tim Bernades

And to finish, enjoy this song that gave the post its name, by a great Brazilian artist, which suggests a guilt-free fresh start.
