Not much of a writer but i feel like complaining.
PT1) "the glory days"
imagine. ur skating maybe by urself at some random location, a park, etc. some oldhead comes up and has to yap to you about a bunch of skaters from the 80s, 90s, 00s im supposed to know about.
i dont care.
its like they still think people are watching the same vids they did and im incorrect for not watching stuff that has not aged well at all. For those unaware, 90s skate culture was essentially a bunch of alcoholic idiots throwing themselves off stairs and maybe landing something if they're lucky.
This does not inspire me.
A lot of these skaters aged into alcoholic bums and/or right wing grifters. No one cares if you were good at something 20 years ago if you are a complete husk of your former self.
IMO it is cool to take care of your body

Basically skateboarding is a sport/activity a bunch of white boys in the late 90's and 2000's were into but recently its become more popular for gay/trans/enby people. this is a good thing. team sports tend to fucking suck if you dont fit the standard social mold. it took me so long to figure out i am actually very athletic, i just found soccer/baseball/basketball not fun and kinda toxic.
unfortunately anywhere on youtube/insta etc whenever a queer skateboarder does anything there's just so many bigoted assholes in the comments. its always 40 year old "i used to skate" mfs that has 0.001% the skill of the person they're hating on.
-- you are a fucking idiot if you think a skate trick is somehow less valid if the skater dresses differently
i just get immediately defensive whenever i talk to an old head. can never guess if they're chill or are gonna randomly say some racist/homophobic/transphobic shit, or perhaps just an unsolicited creepy comment about young girls.
all the skaters around my age i meet are usually pretty cool. then for some reason if they're over 30 its the worst person you've ever met.

Finally theres the overbearing skate dads.
Lets take this counterculture activity that rebelled against traditional sports and turn it into exactly that.
Multiple times i have witnessed a dad forcing a kid to skate who is clearly not enjoying themselves. i think a lot of parents do such bad job of letting kids find their own hobbies and interests. it makes me sad to see parents turning an activity i love into a traumatic memory for 5 year olds.
I swear some parents go out of their way to try to make their kid burnt out as soon as possible.
this is supposed to be a fun activity which includes some silly and whimsical falls and some sprained wrists and ankles.
idk what else I have to say. old heads pmo. gn
