Just got done rebuilding this old winxp machine. a gateway 702ge. Not very familiar with that particular model but it seems decent. Had to swap the power supply since it had failed. After doing that and plugging in some motherboard headers that somehow got disconnected it actually booted just fine. Although it does sound like it's about the take flight when it runs lol

aw man, what a gorgeous beast!!
as for the web browsers, you could give mypal and k-meleon a shot. k-meleon is especially amazing since it consumes way less memory than mypal, however it doesn't handle modern websites that well from what i know.
i also use tixati for downloading torrent files, and free download manager for direct downloads.
