Ok so firstly I want to say that I'm a big yapper and I tend to overanalyze things, so it's a 99/100% chance for the rants that I write to not make sense or to be wrong. Also English is not my first language so I apologise in advance for any spelling or grammar mistakes.
Keep In mind those are only my feelings, not facts, and the point of this post is not to hate on anyone.
Every time a year is coming to an end I always stumble across numerous YouTube or Tiktok videos talking about the fact that "now it's the perfect time to plan or set goals for the new year". They help you make your vision board and set your goals, think about what you did wrong all year and tell you to not repeat those mistakes. They tell you to "wake up" and start working on that "dream version of yourself", because if you don't you're wasting your life.
Now, Im aware of the fact that those videos are made to encourage and motivate you, and i don't necessarily find them bad, because they can be helpful for a lot of people. The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes those can make someone fell rushed, like they are missing out, waisting their life or just makes them feel very bad about themselves because they are not as motivated or as full of energy and ready for the next year. They can make someone stress about the fact that they NEED to set goals for themselves ( and complete all of them) and they need to be careful to not repeat the mistakes they made all year or about the fact that if they don't start their "new year, new me era" and if they don't start being motivated, woking out everyday, eating healthy, reading everyday or be productive every single day, they won't be successful or they will lose another year doing basically nothing. This causes a very wrong and bad mindset. ( for example "if I completed all of my goals then I am successful, worthy and enough, if not, then I'm not )
What I'm trying to say is this. Nobody ( as far as I've seen ) tells you that it's okay to be scared for the new year. That you should slow down. That you should breathe and relax. That you should allow yourself to do nothing. To take a break from all those expectations ( which are mostly created by your own self ) and just..live. That it's okay to be tired or that it's okay to not be prepared for another year. That it's completely fine to not have energy at all and to literally not be able to start being productive. That it's okay to enter a new year slowly, without constantly having your brain full of things you "should do". That it's okay if you didn't complete all of your goals and the fact that you survived another year is already more than enough.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just looking at this too deeply, but I have a felling I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Anyways. This is my first rant and I'm so excited I finally found a place where I can express my opinion and yapp about things I'm passionate about! If this topic was already talked about by other people I'm sorry! If you have any suggestions on topics I should write about please let me now! Take care of yourselves. I love y'all <3
