On Saturday, 29 November, 2025, on my way to Bitung City, I went there via the Manado-Bitung Toll Road. This is my first time crossing this toll road which I have been waiting for for five years since the inauguration of this toll road. It was so exciting of course. With a length of 39 kilometres or 24 miles, it was opened on 29 September, 2020 by President Joko Widodo and this is the first ever freeway or expressway in the Province of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Five years have passed and this freeway is still quiet, yes, quiet. Funding for this toll road came from the state budget, foreign loans from the People's Republic of China, and private investment. The total is around Rp3-4 trillion or US$180-240 million (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,400/US$). As of the time of this post, it has not been paid off. However, despite that, the views here are quite beautiful. The most scenic are Mount Klabat and Mount Tangkoko. By the way, I went to Bitung City at that time to participate in the 2025 study tour of the Manado Dinding Community, my community. Taken on Saturday, 29 November, 2025 at 08:04 (Maumbi Village, Kalawat District), 08:09 (Kawangkoan Village, Kalawat District), 08:12 (Sukur Village, Airmadidi District), and 08:24 (Watudambo Dua Village, Kauditan District) all in North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
