So for about a month or so now I've been putting payments towards this new ride. It's a 2007 Lexus RX350. Lemme explain to you why I opted for this baby and why it's so cool.
For a while now I've been a Lexus kinda guy. What's not to love?? The luxury of a Beamer or Mercedes with Toyota reliability. It started with me recommending my mom buy a 2008 RX330 from a dealer back when I was in high school, I told her it would last longer than any other SUV on that lot and would be 10x cheaper. Much to my surprise, she listened but only after seeing the wood grain trim interior. A few years back I then purchased a 2002 Lexus ES300 that I absolutely fell in love with, but unfortunately that car didn't have a title which got me into a world of legal trouble that left me without a car and out of pocket all the money (Always buy a car with a title folks, doesn't matter what it is - if it doesn't have one it's always too good to be true). Now a few years later I saved up enough money to put as a down payment for this bad girl.
At base glance it might not seem like much.. hell it might not even seem like my style if you know me and what I like. I hate crossovers, I hate lots of tech in my cars, and I hate infotainment systems - but Lexie here is a little different in every regard. First off, the RX350 has the more powerful 2GR-FE engine over the 330's 3MZ. The 2GR being an improved version of the 3MZ all around, from power to reliability. Let me tell you, the 270 horses combined with the fact that she's built on the Camry platform means that this car hauls, among many things, complete ass. The 2GR is also still being used by Toyota today and was in several other models at the time so parts are easy to come across if you can somehow find a way to break one.
So why did I get an SUV? It wasn't just the power that drew me in. My living condition is complicated and kind of benefits from having one, since if I ever gotta couch hop (which may be a real possibility in the future), I got something to carry all my belongings in or sleep in if push comes to shove. Hopefully that last bit won't be necessary but I like to be prepared for anything.
Time for the fun and most juicy part - the interior. The seats are super comfortable and the front 2 can be heated which is nice to use when I get off my labor intensive job pushing pallets and my body is sore. It's got a built in GPS and Navigation system (censored in the photo so as not to dox myself) and I enjoy it because it's hands free and allows me to concentrate on the road without needing to fiddle with Google Maps on my phone. It also comes equipped with a backup camera which I'm normally not a fan of and I'll admit I don't use it frequently since I don't want to get in the habit of using that, but it has come in handy pulling out of the really tight parking spaces where I live, especially since the person who parks across from behind me has a really huge truck that sticks out and the backup cam allows me to gauge the angle I'm backing out at better than looking behind me. Sunroof is nice to have, haven't had much of an excuse to use it yet but I'll find one (probably when it gets warmer out). AC vents is controlled through the screen which I normally hate BUT to get there is accessed through a physical button, and the temp itself is controlled via physical buttons, so it's still straightforward instead of 200 menu presses like you get in modern cars. A cool feature I like on these old Lexus' is the cassette deck, because I can buy a $20 bluetooth cassette tape and keep it in my car to play my music instead of buying an aftermarket head unit which looks good on certain cars but not these. Also comes with a 6-disc CD player if that's more of your cup of tea. Plenty of room to haul things in, be it people or cargo, and for the people there's air vents in the center console as well as pull down cupholders - both for those riding in the back. Speaking of center console, there's also a button to slide open and slide closed the center compartment which looks cool and is fun to do. Driver and passenger seat have armrests too which adds an extra layer of comfort.
In short I absolutely love this car, perfect blend of luxury and practicality, performance and reliability, as well as comfort and style. I have given her a name as you've seen lol, and I care for this car as I've grown quite attached to it. She always puts a smile on my face and never lets me down, even still finds ways to surprise me sometimes lol. Back when luxury cars were actually nice and comfortable and not overengineered and overpriced bloat. 100/10 would absolutely recommend if anyone is or has been interested or looking at one of these.

When I saw your car I remembered the toy car I had as a kid that looked exactly like it. I wish you the best of luck with it dud :D
Thank you! It's cool you had a toy car that looked like this as a kid lol, never knew they made toys of this car or a toy car that looks adjacent to Lexie. These cars are certainly pretty underrated!

Wranglers are a pretty good choice for that. They're really good at rock crawling and stuff too if you got the suspension and tires for it. Nice pick!

i always wanted what jeremy clarkson said was the worst car in the world, the sc430 whats ur opinion? :3

To be honest, as much as I love Clarkson, I couldn't disagree more. The car looks very nice imo and a RWD 3UZ sounds pretty fun to drive ngl. It's a Lexus so it's one of the more reliable luxury cars out there. Personally I'd rather own one of those than something like a Z4. Sure, the 430 is a little more geared towards luxury and isn't as sport focused as the Z4 but it's the closest thing to compare it to, really. I mean how often did we get luxury roadsters in the 2000s? Most of them were sporty first it feels like, luxury was often not in mind at all if not an afterthought. That makes the car one of a kind in my eyes, the kind that when you own it makes you feel lucky every time you see her parked outside. Also because it's an old Lexus, you're gonna get a lot of cool features lol - the RXs weren't the only model to get some of the cool stuff mentioned in my blog XD
