dear 2025:
it’s been a long run this year. we started the year in january relatively fine, spending a long time at gramma’s, playing with the furby we got for christmas. then we got home, and called Cloozz, hung around, and then visited Cloozz for the very first time, on the last Sunday before returning to class. we got into vocaloid thanks to that hangout, and it was a good help to listen to it while doing homework. in january we gamed a lot, trying to get every character in the Dandy’s World christmas update with Cloozz, drawing a lot, specially drawing seals. And then, february. we started february relatively well too, and in that month we got into things like Planet Of The Apes, we enjoyed eating oreos with strawberry milk, we started listening to TV Girl, etc., and it was good, at least until our parents suddenly got fed up with us and decided do ‘discipline’ us, and we couldn’t call our friends for over a month. in february we also got our first kandi kit, and made bracelets for our friends on valentine’s day. we also started watching steven universe and adventure time. we won 1st place on the spelling bee contest. as well as 2nd place on the national hymn competition. then on march, we got into stuff like dinosaurs, ride the cyclone, mitski. in march we got our wisdom teeth removed and had to spend weeks off school, unable to eat. big shoutout to ride the cyclone there. it helped us out a lot. then, in may, we officially dived into mitski, we struggled with constant power outages, even having to go sleep at our aunt’s when nights were too hot. not much happened in may, except that we got into adrianne lenker’s music. then, june, our last month in school before summer vacations and swapping schools. here we got into gorillaz, remember? a small spark of curiosity, sparked by a couple of songs, led into one of the heaviest, longest-lasting fixations in what we can remember. june was harsh, specially with all of the projects and our parents not being exactly nice and supportive, which led to heavy emotional drops in the month. luckily, we had music. mitski and penelope scott played a big role here. and then, we were out of school, and july arrived. in july we got our hair highlights in blue for the very first time, spent hours talking in Cloozz’s group chat, listening to gorillaz, just enjoying summer. then, towards the end of the month, we got our guitar. playing it is a comfort, and i’m thankful for it. i’m sure you are too. then, a few days before my 13th birthday, we headed out to our mom’s hometown for a vacation. we had a rather fun time, and our parents did become a but noticeably harsher after we gained another year of age. but it’s fine. we got a diary. and here started august, and in august we got to go see The Living Tombstone in concert, which has probably been one of the best nights in our life. we also started air gymnastics, which didn’t last long but was fun while it lasted. here we also got into Hamilton, even though we haven’t rewatched the musical since then. then, september, and a very, VERY heavy emotional drop. this was probably the month in which we struggled a lot, specially with adapting to the new school, and we got into she-ra and the princesses of power, which was a comfort. meowl also appeared in our lives here, and the announcement of a new gorillaz album was a surprise, as well as the first single of The Mountain. then, october, where we struggled in math, we finally got on discord, and on halloween we cosplayed as plastic beach noodle. it was fun to build the costume and then wear it out. we also joined the school band here, which was stressful but fun. and then, november, where we struggled with the projects and christmas festivals and preparations. here the first volume of the 5th season of Stranger Things released, which was very fun and exciting. here we also spent an amazing evening at Miller’s house, playing in the park, hanging out in underground tunnels. we watched Haunted Hotel with Cloozz, and it was a nice obsession. and finally, terrifyingly fast, december. here we finished up with school and started skipping until we were done. our dad got a new video game console where we could play the last of us and cult of the lamb. we watched the fnaf 2 movie, accidentally making a fool of ourselves and crying due to it and due to feeling lonely at school because of the mean kids. we met our niece. we got our discman and the cds we wanted on christmas. we suffered due to the awful volume 2 of Stranger Things. we got into twenty one pilots. and now, here we sit, typing out this letter to you. this is a recap. and a thank you. a thank you for being one of the years that has changed me the most. a thank you for showing me a lot of new things, a thank you for the music, for the roadtrips, for the laughter shared. a thank you for being here. a thank you for everything.
i promise not to forget you any time soon. i’ll revisit this letter every time i can. i’ll keep listening to the artists that helped us out this run. i’ll rewatch the shows. i will keep your memory alive.
with a heavy heart and a heartfelt goodbye, charlotte.
