Hey yall i need some opinions.
So my brother was just born and we are 17 years apart. And i think its really cute bc i can watch him grow up but im kinda scared that i will be more like an aunt to him than a sister.
What do yall think?

my brother and i have a 9 year age gap. i was pretty much always around him until he went to college, and then he would move in and out for a few years until i eventually moved out at 23. granted, he was kind of an asshole sometimes but he was a really good brother to me. he would buy me things/food, watch me while my parents were out, take me with him when he hung out with his friends. he would also beat me up, take my things from me, get into arguments with me. it was good and bad, but overall i'm very grateful for him, and i hope he feels the same about me. i think that if you want to take on that sibling role, offer to help as much as you can. be there for them and try to hang out with them as much as possible. obviously don't force it, and you might find out you're not cut out for that, but make as much opportunity as possible for this to be your friend instead of your relative.

Im sorry that u and ur brother had bad times but im sure it will all be okay
Im js a bit scared that i cant be there often enough since im moving in with my bf in February plus i have a fulltime job

firstly, congrats to you and your family. secondly, i hope the best for you and your brother. its important to be a role model to him and ask yourself how you can support him whenever he will be struggling.

I do have some habits that i do not want to teach my brother and im using this as a opportunity to become someone he can look up to and who supports him
