mcr - ‘like ghosts in the snow’

Does anyone know what the lyrics ‘like ghosts in the snow’ means? I’ve heard it called back in multiple projects gerard way has made (mcr, umbrella academy(?)) and im interested to know if we know exactly what that line means.

if you wanna listen to it yourself it’s in:

 ‘vampires will never hurt you’ (bullets) - can be heard in the whispers at the very end

‘the world is ugly’ (weapons) - again, at the very end, repeated twice

i’ve also been told that it’s mentioned in umbrella academy (comics or show idk)  it u couldn’t tell you where - haven’t watched/read.

its one of my favorite callback lines - if anyone has more info about it i’d love it know!!
