International song un-gatekeep

I've realized in the past few months that most people (esp gen z) and scene kids in general are trying to embody this persona of an "American" cool kid even though all of us know that coolness knows no "gender, race, nationality", but most of those kids do it unconsciously, this could be due many reasons, I've come to summarize them as lack of recourses for more different type of music\style, trying to escape stereotypes and fitting in with ones own social group (fitting in doesn't necessarily only include society as an outer shell)

Also wanted to say that there is no problem with having a taste similar to others or just simply enjoying the more " popular" things but its also really encouraged to keep exploring in your own genre even if that means trying to engage of a culture that is not your own something as simple as listening to a song in a language that is not native to your own.Β
so I think It'd be great if this can be a safe space where people share their knowledge of other cultural songs from different cultures as a way to open an eye for underrated hidden gems since music doesn't really have to be understood in order to be feltΒ . Λ–Β  ꒰𑁬 β™‘ ΰ»’κ’±Β  Λ– .

I know what you mean I think. I know people at my school who listen to music from another culture and they try to be more like that other culture. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad or good thing. Music shapes people when I listen to a song and I resonate with it I’m prone to wanting to be like the singer or want to embody the song (ie. hear a song sung by French person about being mysterious I want to be mysterious)
Listening to lots of different music from different cultures, I guess, would give people more options of how to form their identity than if everyone listened to the same type of music
