homophobia is a serious issue

It was Christmas day, one of my favorite rappers Che drops a deluxe to his album Rest in Bass called Encore. I listen to each of the songs, it’s a unique and beautiful experience until i get to the song FREEK NEEK where he says the lyrics “I paint my nails, get this pussy, ain’t no faggot.” This is very upsetting to hear because i love Che’s music and even made a painting for him. He’s stealing the style of LGBT people and giving no credit back to the community. While it may seem small, behavior like this brings even more hate to individuals who are LGBT. Hatred of gay people is common within the black community. We are told when we our young that masculinity is important and that feminine traits are disgusting. Emotions? Invalid. Trauma? Lies made up for attention. I was brainwashed believing that LGBT individuals were bad until I realized that I was bisexual. We cannot progress as a society until we learn to appreciate people of different backgrounds, no matter their ethnicity or sexuality. 

TLDR; Straight rapper says queer slur while having a queer swag, and homophobia is bad.
