I am a big Ayesha fan, but even I wasn’t there during the “prime” of her career. But being interested in an artist I obviously went out of my way to research about her, because there are various controversies attached to her name.
I’m indeed the type of person who won’t listen to an artist if they’ve done problematic things I consider are far out of my range of acceptable. And I’m black so the whole “Ayesha is racist” thing was worth investigating for me.
First things first, there’s only a small part of the Ayesha fandom I can tolerate. The rest of them are either transphobic or think they’re cunty for calling others slurs and pretend Ayesha is going to release H4u if they mindlessly defend her with some misinformed blabber they heard on TikTok.
Every time someone points out Ayesa’s racist past or the fact she USED to be problematic. Stans start repeating the same “she was 13 and beaten and homeless!!!” until they choke on their own saliva. Then they become so incredibly bitter and stuck up when someone doesn’t like Ayesha or is offended by the things she has done in the past.
Of course we can’t drag people for the things they’ve said years ago and show genuine remorse for, but those stans don’t even bring that up as a point and it’s like they’re determined to give everyone the wrong ideas so I’ll put some things on a line.
Ayesha and Miss Prada.
The first thing people whine about whenever bringing up Ayesha’s old racist remarks are that they’re demos recorded for Miss Prada where Ayesha said the n word (Miss Prada is a black perosn) that was written in his lyric and these demos got leaked without context. And now she sounds like a racist but she isn’t.
Then there’s also the story of her being 13 (homeless) and being paid by Prada to say the n word and this is why she did. Which isn’t true. Ayesha worked together with Prada on his 2015 album, Queen of Pop. 2015. Ayesha is born in 1996. At the time she would’ve already been 19. So this argument has its flaws already.
Cola La Flare
Then we also know that Ayesha had a lot of aliases back in the days, before really being recognized and known as Ayesha Erotica. One of those being Cola La Flare, which was in 2013. Ayesha has obviously said she doesn’t stand by those songs anymore, but in like almost every song she’s made as Cola La Flare she’s spamming the n word. Respectfully, I like some of the songs. Though I would’ve felt better listening to it if a black person sang this.
There might just be more, but this is all I want to get into right now. I’m not saying we should drag Ayesha to hell and back. She has apologized and sees the bad in her former actions, but to pretend she hasn’t done anything wrong isn’t being a “real fa!”, that’s just being embarrassing.
I will not sugarcoat or defend any of Ayesha’s former actions and I still enjoy her music and her as a person.
That’s all I have to say. XxRo
