Its so hard to make online friends dude </3 like i'll join a discord server for one of my interests and try to chat it up and everyone ignores it like they don't want me there but they were advertising it hello??? people on here seem pretty cool but I don't know how to reach out :( that one is on me but still super hard to make friends online!

I've always had trouble fitting in, whether it was irl or social media. It just feels like no matter where I am I could never feel like I was apart of a group. And the longer I go on without being able to form those meaningful connections, the more miserable and worthless I feel.

Same here. My usual 2 year discord GC is starting to die... Old friends not joining calls anymore and I know sooner or later I will have to make new friends— AND THAT'S HARD! So hard? I dont even know how I did it once, damn, do I just get to someone and say "wanna be friend?"
I mean that works irl (at least for me lol) literally the way I made friends with my current best friends I kind of just sat next to them and complimented them then just started talking to them. I get how it may be harder for others though because social anxiety and other stuff like that! But from my experience just being nice and talking to people works.

Well, it being friendly usually works for me if Im trying to make colleagues- But I find it really really hard to make ACTUAL friends :(

i also have a hard time making online friends
maybe every once and a while ill actually meet someone who i have more than one conversation with, but other than that its usually just saying hi, hows ur day, maybe talk about a shared interest, and then we never talk to each other again. but tbh thats kinda my fault for not reaching out but it feels kinda awkward. yeah sure i can just say hi, hows ur day, and repeat the conversation again but i wanna meet someone who i can actually be myself with. don't get me wrong, i have friends irl, but sometimes its nice to have an online friend to play games with and talk to especially if we have similar interests
I try to hold convos with people by like sending memes or stuff like that of media we both like but even then it just gets like a "lol" or left on seen :( please guys with the great reset of 2026 lets bring back actual online friends

discord servers are so bum they give me so much anxiety
making friends online is like gambling because if you decide to try and actually become something more than just ‘mutuals’ it ends up that you two either never text again or it’s a weirdo that then causes you problems or or or MAYBE you get lucky and get the good stuff.. but it’s highkey rare nowdays
I was in like one discord server that was super active and non toxic and I met some of the coolest people and had actual online friends but the server died and now I just yearn for another one like that but its been like 2 years and every discord server now is buns ;-;

Online is not what it was like 10 years ago. Making "friends" Online is a rare occurrence. The way to make friends is to go outside and experience real life.
I have a lot of friends irl too lol I just want to meet people online to talk about stuff I'm currently interested in with people who feel the same about that media!

Usually crowded discord servers aren’t the best for making friends
But if it’s like a small group of ppl it would be easy other than that u will be talking to a wall just to grab someone’s attention so u could make a conversation
But ye it’s kinda difficult these days to make friends irl and online
