Writing down the reasons of using phone
This holidays I got the idea to spend less time on my phone and right now I'm figuring out wheather I should take it to another level - maybe buy an Ipod so that my phone wouldn't be around me all the time (since I listen to music all the time :D). I know that it's very easy to be influenced by something on the internet so I will be using as less Insta as possible. Ofc I won't delete it because I contact some of my friends there and most importantly I will be able to see how my favorite idols are doing XD. So I probably will only use it to contact my friends for the next 2 weeks. And it will be 2 weeks because I need time to have my original thoughts back, not the internet influenced, with no obsessions. Talking from experience, you literally need time for decisions. It's kinda bad bc I'm convinced that I will buy the Ipod. I used to simply download the music to my phone and had over 2000 songs. Ofc I used to use Spotify and Youtube(both have huge minuses) but since I don't have internet most of the time I would download it. Not a while ago my parents bought me a new phone and it's such a trouble to download music again(I'm not sure wheather I should continue downloading music on my phone or wait for the Ipod). AND THIS MUSIC APP HAS ADS??(like 5 seconds before opening the app but still) Like what. The app is literally the same so why? So I thought that it would be great to get an Ipod and I could use this thing alone just for music. Like I want music and I don't have to carry my phone around. Maybe after years, the moment I have to change my phone again(why am I thinking about it), I won't have to redownload everything again. Do Ipods work for long? Probably..
Ipod
Pluses:
Less usage of phone
Being original
Making other people aware
Minuses:
Buying it (=asking my parents)
Weird cuz new, is it loud? (=attention)
Not a problem, is it? ;)
Limit your phone
Replace
I thought to reduce my time of using my phone by using other objects instead. Like using an actual notebook instead of the notes app. I used to think it was awkward to use something like this because everyone used their phones for it. But I don't have to be like everyone. I'm doing everything for myself.
Objects I will be getting/using to replace my phone:
Calendar(Big and small)
Watch
Notebook
Flashlight
Just having your phone away makes you more aware of yourself, your thoughts and reality. Like when I first touched my phone today in the afternoon I already felt the brainrot.. It's very easy to loose your original thoughts because you have all of the info coming to you..
I will be trying my best to figure out
Know why you're using your phone in order to limit
How to reduce the phone time? It's knowing your purposes of using your phone. Plan it. Know what you're doing. Just know what you're going to do that day, what your plans are. The moment you feel bored, look at your to-do list. I can only study effectively when I have my homework, upcoming tests written down.
So I wrote down the reasons why I will be using my phone in the future:
Brave(it's another browser like google) for checking my school's website to know/schreenshot my homework when I don't have internet -> gallery
Messenger -> Facebook(for messages and news from my class, family, friends)
Instagram for news, messages
Spacehey
Youtube for videos, studying
Snapchat for photos, friends
I also have other apps but I'm unlikely to use them everyday
Try to make a simple plan to be aware!
At first I was sceptical about this 2026 coming back to physical media. I viewed it as another trend for nostalgia. But then I started to view it as something beneficial for me. See, for the past 2 or less years I've been searching for effective ways to become productive and nothing seemed to work. Or it would only work when I wasn't going to school(I would be too busy to stick to the new routine). Although it's only been a few days, I can say that I've been really productive. I downloaded an app that stops me from watching reels. I'm pretty satisfied. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a calendar and a watch. Everything's going pretty smoothly and I hope I will successfully get used to my new routine - using less phone.
I'm really new to Ipods so if anyone has any more suggestions please tell me!
Sorry for my bad English, actually this felt pretty much like writing an essay so I know there are some different mistakes here T-T.
