This is my first blog post I'm making on Spacehey because I'm lame and made the account and then ghosted. But hey, no better time than the present, right?
I’m excited to share some of the things I’ve made because I recently picked up a new hobby, and it’s all I can think about! Literally, right before Christmas, while I was scrolling through Pinterest for gift ideas, I kept stumbling upon the cutest cross stitching I’d ever seen. It was at that moment I realized I was about to pick up a new hobby to obsess over for a month.
But first, I actually started out by making a candle holder for my friend out of clay. They love Bath & Body Works, so I thought it would be a good idea. They’re also really into those creepy clowns you pass by quickly at thrift stores because you can almost feel them trying to possess you. They even have a shelf full of clowns in their room! So, I decided to make a candle holder for that shelf. I ran into a lot of issues and honestly, I didn’t love how it turned out, but they loved it, so I guess that’s a win! I also made them a cross stitched patch of Snoopy dressed as a clown. They loved that too, and I’m actually proud of how it turned out!
My first cross stitching project was for my Mamaw. I cross stitched "Mamaw" on an apron and added some pretty flowers, vines, and hearts around it. She loves it and wears it all the time now!
My little sister deserves the best gift because she’s awesome. So, I panicked for a bit and couldn’t think of anything. But then, I remembered that while we were at the Peddler’s Mall, she pointed out one of those crochet bag/headphone charms and said she wanted one. Lucky for me, she didn’t buy it, so I made one for her! It didn’t take long, and it’s super cute. But it didn’t feel like enough, so I went back to the drawing board. My sister is really into the “cute aesthetic,” and her favorite Sanrio character is Pochacco, so I cross stitched a little Pochacco and turned it into a hair clip because she’s been talking about wanting fun hair clips—and even making her own!
There’s still one more gift to make for a friend I don’t get to see very often. I found the best inspiration pic ever for his gift. It’s a denim jacket with cool stuff cross stitched on it, but I plan on customizing it to match his personality! I’m thinking of doing a design with Mothman, opossums, and maybe some funny-dressed mice or something. I’m so excited to start, but I’ve been to five different thrift stores and still haven’t been able to find a denim jacket. But I will never stop searching!
Anyway, that’s just some backstory. Without further ado—here are the gifts!
