rating an album everyday!!! today: Hot Like Wow by Nadia Oh

so, for today’s pick i went with a 2000s classic. i’ll be fully honest: it didn’t catch me too much. maybe some people think that this type of music is "futuristic" or "revolutionary" but yeah, it's not MY favourite. still, LET'S GIVE AN OPINION!!

Hot Like Wow, Nadia Oh (2008)

PROS: kinda get why it has its little cult moment online. it has this very bold, flashy attitude going on, and the confidence is definitely there, it’s playful and very “2000s". something i do appreciate is that nadia oh’s voice sits really well on these beats, super punchy and made for that club vibe. that part is genuinely cool, and she really does that "diva" role REALLY great! 

CONS: the album didn’t work for me as a whole. i think the idea of doing an album for this type of genre it's kind of difficult, so i can accept it. there were also songs that felt like fillers and honestly by the time the album ended, i couldn’t remember half of them. it's one of those records where the IDEA is fun, but the execution, it's 50/50. if i had to listen to the best nadia oh songs, it would be maybe fun for some time. but as an album, that doesn't convince me.

i think the problem she has it's that making an album like this is really difficult. it's not a type of music that u could sit and analyze for hours. maybe i’ll return to one or two tracks for the vibes, but that’s about it. i’ll go with a 2.9/5. it's honestly refreshing in some tracks and space cowboy helps with some great beats!

PAUSE. had to change so many things on my review. i tried listening to this album again while i was doing this, and wow, it changed some things to my opinion. well, i have to say that the new rating is 3.31/5. i stand with the "refreshing" thing about the tracks, it's honestly INCREDIBLE how i could rate this so low, i REALLY RECOMMEND this record from nadia oh. it's funny, maybe it's still repetitive but the vibe she sets is crazy. City Nights really made me change this descition fr.
