Why are toxic blogs on top of the chart?

I saw quite some people wonder why toxic blogs get so popular on Spacehey while other get left behind. Take this as a little guide to make this place nicer.

The easy answer is: They get attention. 

Toxic or controversial content gets the most attention because it makes people feel in different ways. People have a natural urge to react when they feel strongly about something.

While disagreeing with someone in real life might make someone reconsider what they said, it's different on the internet. Especially if someone just wants the attention. Your reaction makes the toxic posts more visible. The more comments - the more popular the blogs gets.

What to do about it?

While it is completely okay to share your opinion or react when you don't agree with something it is advised to think for a second before commenting. - Are you contributing to a sincere conversation or are you just boosting a ragebait? 

The only way to get toxic content out of sight is to stop commenting on it. If something made you angry, dont loose your cool and if you see something that is against the rules, report it. React to posts that you want to see more often. Even if it's just a small compliment, it might make someone's day nicer.
