I often feel like my opinion matters less just because I am younger. As if I had to reach a certain age before I am allowed to be heard. Its not about knowing everything better. I just want to be seen & treaded like a equal.
Im not sure if I am the only person who feels this way. Do you maybe feel the same? Do you also have the feeling like you constantly have to proof yourself?
Yes, I am still learning and of course I am not an adult yet, but Im living, feeling and carrying responsibility right now. In my opinion respect shouldn’t depend on age.
Maybe you can share your experiences with me.

Yeah i can relate, i feel like just because youre older doesnt mean you cant be wrong about something and i really do hate the fact that younger people are treated like they are stupid

I wasn't treated like an *adult* adult by other adults until I was 25ish, it had absolutely nothing to do with who I was, what I knew, or how I conducted myself, people are just ageist. One of my younger friends genuinely runs circles around older folks and get all the praise in the room for their skills and achievements UNTIL they let their age slip, then they're suddenly treated like an absolute baffoon who's just mindlessly parroting stuff someone older told them. So many people dismiss younger folks' ideas and progress, then turn around feeling insecure that they themselves haven't done enough, that they're too old to achieve anything now.
I've always felt like those two things fed into each other; convince people they never know anything in their youth, and they become adults who still feel like they're too stupid/not good enough for anything (and then a lot of them get jealous of, or even lash out at, younger people who surpass them).
