Personally for me it's when you join smth just bc it's popular or well liked (or socially acceptable) ALSO straight up refusal to research the history on a certain subculture or style and bullying "newgens" just bc they're new and try and "gatekeep" the subculture

Any person that joins the hype not because they love something but because it's trendy honestly.
If you didn't bothered to learn about subculture you dressing as, are you even into it smh?? That's goes as shade to all "clean grunge" tiktoks or where to buy clothes for punk style recomendations. I think people that actually interested in subculture will look through it values. It's alright to like aesthetic, but don't present yourself as subculture member then. (･ｪ-)
yeah i understand. i feel like people that say their style is alt like actually saying “my style name is alt” jumped on it for the popularity. i had never seen this many alt people before tiktok made it popular. most of them have no alternative values and only follow others in the community even tho being alternative is inherently just about being yourself and stuff.

Reall, the worst part is that I seen that people were complaining that those people were dictating the rules of subcultures they are not even part of, mostly on rus side of internet but still. Like, actually saying that you not real punk if you don't do the clothes some specific way and similar things to other subcultures. I mean, the audacity???
So yeah. This sucks.

Hot topic, typa person to be unbearably popular, they lazily try to get to know you so they can cop your stuff and then immediately bully you im front of a crowd of “normal” people for clout
this is so real. i’ve had lots of people find out where i shop or how i do certain things and then after we stop being friends they act like they’ve always thought i was a freak. like ok as if you weren’t asking where my closet was from 2 days ago
