my formal goodbye to pre-canon byler

i am writing this on 12/25/25 at 7:24pm, less than an hour before the release of st5 vol 2. i joined the stranger things fandom pretty late, watching it for the first time around 3 years ago at this point. however, byler became my special interest pretty quickly. ive spent years going absolutely out of mind over this show, ive written essay after essay, watched hours and hours of analysis, and that is all coming to a close in less than an hour. i dont know if ive ever been as excited for anything as i am for the byler kiss, and i dont even know how to begin to describe the emotions im gonna feel when (not if) it happens. however i know im gonna be indescribably nostalgic for this soon. byler will become mainstream, this community wont be as tight knit as it is now. that is mostly for the better, but i am going to miss this. im saying it now, i was a byler before it became canon, and a devout one at that, and in the slim chance its not canon i will continue to be a byler. as far as writing goes, byler is the obviously better option. in about 40 minutes byler will be canon, so this is my formal goodbye to the pre-canon byler era. im proud to say ive been around for a long time. i feel so honored to have gone crazy together with all of you.
