not a fan of this time of year

late year festivities are always associated with families and friends coming together, dining on a corpse or two, and gifting each other cheap plastic made with slave labor from across the globe. looking at it outside the framing of tradition, the worldwide routine of new years' celebrations seems so mechanical and soulless for the majority of participants. i've got no family i care for, so i, like the years prior, will be spending my new years eve at an animal sanctuary, and gorging myself on homemade sweets and soup once i get home. it may not be a social thing to do, but it's a comfortable thing to do. cheers to moi and an okay new year.

Christmas would be so fun if it wasn't for the way capitalism affects it. I handmade most of my gifts this year and decided not to see my slightly racist and very homophobic family members. I exchanged gifts with my best friend then went to go visit my siblings. I never want a rushed Christmas where I blow all my money ever again.
Also, I work retail so I associate the holidays with a horrible rush at work :( It's the worst time of year for me. Christmas music just makes me mad now.
