There has been a lot of talk about overstimulation and how harmful that can be, especially to developing minds. When one is watching overstimulating content, it can reduce focus, cause sleep issues, and irritability/behavioral problems. It can vary by person and age. However, being exposed to overstimulating content for too long is bad.
Now here's the other thing I don't see anyone talking about. Understimulation. You probably can guess what this means, stimuli being little to none. Same symptoms as overstimulation + increased risk of depression. Again, this can vary from person to person. When a developing mind is exposed to just black/white/beige, barely any color, I can only imagine this could limit imagination and creative thinking. So what can be done?
Have a mixture of both in appropriate and healthy ways, aka somewhere in the middle of the two! Not too overstimulating and not too understimulating. I know someone's gonna say "Bluey is a really good example of this!" And you'd be right, it is. I might as well list that here now, haha! Let me know what else are some good examples or if you have anything to add on! I'd love to see them!
