I hate wearing the hijab. I hate it so so much. I want to be like the other girls. Like the one I see in the streets. They have no idea how lucky they are. I want to feel the wind on the back of my neck. I want to know how it feels to have the wind catch at my hair. I want the people to know that I am pretty. I want to feel pretty. I feel like I'm wasting my youth. I see the girls in the streets and on the internet and wish that it was me. I wish I didn't live in this economy, in a place that makes girls feel like they're prisoners. I wish I could wear short sleeves in summer. I wish I could go out without feeling insecure. I wish I could wear a cute mini skirt. I was twelve. I was twelve and I had to cover every single part of me expect my face and hands. It's been four years and I haven't felt the wind against my skin. I wish I could get out of this place.

i’m truly sorry you had to go through this. it’s incredibly unfair to have something so personal taken away from you, especially at such a young age. you deserved the right to choose, to feel free, comfortable, and confident in your own body. your feelings are valid, and the pain you’re expressing makes complete sense.
thank you
