Ragebaiting isn't funny. Ragebaiting isn't cool. Stop it.

I would like for you to note, that this is coming from a perspective of an autistic person, although low-functioning, I still have it, and still sometimes cannot understand social cues. This might effect my opinion in this blog.

A recent slang term has started to float around online, "Rage baiting." I am very intune on most slang terms that are used on Instagram, as that is really the only piece of social media that I use other than Spacehey. But anyway, I have seen this term being thrown around--

And it seems to me that people are just using this term to bully people. In school (Am am in high school,) I have seen my friends, especially my friends with special needs, be "ragebaited." basically, if you don't know what Ragebaiting means, according to google, it means "online content intentionally designed to provoke anger, outrage, or strong negative emotions to drive engagement (likes, comments, shares) and increase traffic."

Basically, just attention seeking. I would say this is just the modern day version of "trolling." As you can draw similarities to Chris chan or lol cows trolls, especially the reactions these lolcows give.

Ragebaiting, from what I have seen, is just bullying. I have been "ragebaited." Apparently, being called slurs, my interest being made fun of, being catcalled is ragebaiting. I don't find that funny. One time, two boys in my school told me I have "nice tits," and called it ragebaiting.

One of my special needs friends was ranting to me about Persona, because that is his current special interest, and some kid called us "retarded weebs." I told my principal, and she didn't do anything. This isn't ragebaiting, this is just bullying. As is most bullying.

I see a lot of "ragebaiting" online, and it is just bullying fandoms that are made up of mostly autistic people. Example- Steven universe. On Instagram, I see "ragebaiting" meme videos of people dunking on Steven Universe and its fans, to be clear, I don't like Steven universe, but the amount of people dunking on clearly autistic fans of Steven Univserse, The owl house, or Hazbin hotel is insane. I don't even like any of these shows, but it is wild to me how comfortable people feel bullying others, under a slang term.

Anyway, have a great day, or night! <3

God, finally someone said it. At its best, it's diet trolling, and at its worst, it's just flat-out harassment. I wish most people could just at least stand on business and just say they were fucking with people and not baiting rage.
