A really good psychological thriller is the Pawn series by Steven James, and another pretty good one is Hazelthorn, Don't Let the Forest In, and Ward D.

its not niche, but you can try agggtm, its AMAZING (its a mystery/thriller).
you can try the folk of air series, its a political fantasy, and trust me, the genre sounds bad but ITS SO GOOODD. trust me on this one gng.
if youre looking for a thriller w lots of plot twists- the only one left by riley sager.
another thriller/mystery which is very descriptive and realistic is the girl on the train by paula hawkins.
LASTLY- soft romance: The sun is also a star by nicola yoon- definitely deserves more recognition.

Read the diary of a wimpy kid books, but read it like it's an journal of an actual confirmed sociopath. Like with that dark under tone.
