how cyberpunk 2077 was the only thing that held me together

This game had the biggest comeback story of all time. The fact that people are recognizing Cyberpunk for its unique story and phenomenal gameplay is amazing. It truly was an experience I wish I could relive for the first time again.

I got the game about two years ago, and I did not think much of it at first. Just another game that was going to rot in my steam library. It wasn't until I finished the first act that I was in for a wild ride. My first playthrough was a nightmare. My build was all messed up, and I used a tier 2 gun for the final bossfight and managed to get through the entire game like that somehow. But that wasn't what pulled me into the game so much. It was the world of Night City that seduced me. I always kept coming back to the game just to walk around in Heywood, or even drive all around the outskirts of Night City. I felt so immersed into the game, and I felt the existential dread V was going through.

The way Cyberpunk puts you in this situation that seems hopeless is bittersweet. All the people you can meet and make friends with makes it seem like some sort of movie. You go through all of these stories and experiences as V and become someone completely different. There does not feel like there is no dissonance between gameplay and your character, and it flows simultaneously between each one. V feels so real in this game, and it makes it all the better.

The existential threat of death is a very talked about theme throughout the game. Whether you go to Misty to read your tarot readings, or how you go through these vulnerable moments where you face death himself. The indomitable human spirit is seen as a motivator, as V keeps pushing and pushing to find answers and build their street cred. It makes it all seem worth it, and YOU the player shape the reasons why it is worth it for V. It's a existentialist's wet dream, and that is why this game kept me together. To recognize the fact that life can be shaped.

Anyways Cyberpunk is a work of art, and I am glad it has finally been patched enough to be played and enjoyed.
