Hello everyone! Im new to the site and I have a quick story time vent for you all.
I went to my friends house to go caroling around their neighborhood today. Me, my friend and his little brother were just caroling out in the streets, with our guitars and tambourine. Spreading the festive christmas spirit through our attempts of singing and playing these songs. Whether they gave us money or not — we didnt care, we were there for the fun of it anyways.
We were than 7-8 houses in, going to a friends house of my pals little brother. Then passing by a house of an HOA member, they came out asking us if we were the kids making all the noise. Agreeing and telling us we needed a permit to do so, my pals lil bro was scared to get in trouble and was asking me non stop if we were. I calmed him down and politely talked to the HOA member and we went on our way home.
It was a bit frustrating because we were only having fun, but I get it that theyre a gated community and have these types of rules in the first place, it just doesnt seem fun needing to get a permit just to spread the joy of christmas and new years.

I have never lived in an HOA area I honestly find them icky and weird that you have to have specific rules even for the house you own. I guess I don't understand the appeal of living in one with HOA. I am sorry that happened though I think it is silly it even happened
I've seen a lot of stories on the internet about HOA's and most of them are negative experiences about the association. Its your property, your house and practically you can do anything with it, as long as its not illegal or disturbing anybody.

Oh yeah. I am sure that not all of them are as strict as others.
