in this blog im going to use mlp as an example. i'm not rlly sure if i can call this racism but it all goes back to stereotypes that are embedded into our subconsciousness. ive seen many creators post their own human designs for mlp characters, and i saw one where twilight was white instead of indian/brown and like everybody was sooo pissed and called the artist racist for choosing how to draw her, but isnt it actually racist to stereotype her as indian? Twilight is portrayed as a nerd who is always focused on studying, she has had episodes where she's considered an outsider in comparison to her friends (Ik Canterlot is posh, and she's way privileged, but she's still considered an outsider). I just find it weird that people are really adamant about her race. There's a difference between propaganda/stereotypes and representation. People make these small decisions like deciding a race based on stereotypes, then call it representation. i feel like this really limits creativity, like whenever a character is bubbly (in this case pinkie) people always draw the character curvy/soft (and theres no problem with that at all i think its cute) but it really narrows down imagination, thats why when we see a really diverse group of characters (whether through height or unexpected races) it looks strange, because we're so used to a specific image for each personality trait (bubbly = curly nerd = glasses shy = pastel) and though theyre always based off of things we see everyday it draws boundaries for actual representation. anyways yeah stop getting weirded out by simple things, embrace different opinions and points of view.
racism in fandoms? limited creativity

Really, I guess it's when they try to be "inclusive," and in that same mindset, they unintentionally create a bubble in their own minds that it's the right thing to do, that it deserves applause, and that it deserves to be booed. It's sad but true; that's how most opinions on the internet are, and honestly, nobody stops to think if it's true or if they're just acting like idiots.
i 100% agree with you and it so sucks that its hard to leave and abandon a mentality that is well fostered all around us
