Does anyone think that physical media will become expensive in the future?

I really want to collect both cds and dvds but the thing with dvds is that its probably more of an investment because there are blu-ray dvds and special edition dvds and so forth whilst with cds its honestly kinda simpler imo like with every cd thats on bandcamp it can be just around $13 dollars usually whilst for dvds its like 3-5 dollars which is kind of making a counterpoint but hear me out okay. I'm saying that if collecting physical media will become prominent which it will probably not because people will always have convenience as a number one priority no matter but whats going to happen is the fact of some dvds being more harder to collect and maybe even cds too but the thing with cds is that there pretty much more cheaper to make than dvds (or at least thats what i believe to be true) because the demand will become pretty big where people are trying to hoard their movie collection which yeah thats going to probobly suck. I'm sayiing this because pirating movies with like a home server is like a REAL investment you have to make than just buying cds from some artist on bandcamp

thats all i got to say lmk what u guys think idk :/

I can realistically see the price of blank discs possibly increasing due to scarcity and being a somewhat niche product that requires you to have an actual computer and software plus the technical knowledge to burn them and all, but unless regular DVDs stop being produced and/or a significant amount of people become more interested in collecting them again (instead of regarding them as "worthless" and "disposable" as most people nowadays seem to do), I don't think this would affect regular discs and I'd imagine the same would hold for CDs as well.

Ok ima be honest I agree both might become expensive but I feel like (CERTAIN) cds will generally become more expensive bc I feel like people cling onto cds wayyyyyy more than dvds...

Bc like I walk into a thrift store dvd section, right? And I already see a BUNCH of great "common" movies like spiderman 1, 2, 3, the matrix, shrek dvds ALL BASICALLY GUARANTEED EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Now I walk into the CD section... AND DANG it's empty, No "Hybrid Theory", no "Nevermind" no "American Idiot" DIDN'T THESE ALBUMS SELL MILLIONS WHY THE HECK AREN'T THEY HERE!!!!???????

I think it's bc people cling onto their favourite cds way more than their favourite dvds. Also there's stuff like SACDs HDCDs special editions cds, original master recording cds, collector's edition cds, etc.

but at the end of the day i'm not trying to earn money from this i'm just trying to collect bc it's fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:D

Physical media like cds are already kinda expensive - at least where I live lol - considering how scarce they are since the world moved to streaming platforms instead. Yes prices will increase along with demand but it’s not gonna be that different from what it is now, since prices increase with availability and market demand ykwim
