The internet has changed

Given the current state of the world right now, the internet is kind of a shell of what it used to be. I used to enjoy a short scroll through the lives of the people I grew up with in my town and watch whatever on youtube. The internet used to be better about connecting others because most people were just sharing pictures and daily life stuff. That's still true to a point, but now its more of people pretending they're something they're not. Everything is about influencing you to buy something or do something. There's also sooooo many influencers now, the internet is oversaturated with people trying to get you to spend money. I know that's not the case for everyone, there's a lot of content that's just for entertainment which is fine, but even that category is over loaded. Capitalism has destroyed what made the internet fun in the first place, real humans sharing real content. Now with ai we have so much slop content I just want to screammmmmm. There is an ad almost everywhere you go and a lot of places (streaming and youtube mostly) are just pushing more and more ads onto us and nothing is fun anymore. Part of the reason this site is so great is that there's no ads and there isn't an algorithm trying to push content it thinks I would like so I keep scrolling lol. Myspace had such a big impact and I'm glad this site exists in it's honor. That's my rant I guess lol
