(This was a school assignment I did a while ago, the prompt was write 5 blog entries about anything and this was one of them that I really liked and thought I would share. I would like to add that I have never written a blog before and this was the first time I attempted to do anything like this lol.)
When I think of a tragic story, the first thing to come to my mind is Romeo and Juliet. A story about two lovers, unable to be together because of their families, and in the end they die for each other. It’s such a depressing story, so why, out of all the love stories that have happy endings, is this one of the most well known and romanticized? I personally think it is because of the sadness this story evokes. Is it possible to have love without pain? No, that’s not at all true. And as somebody who loves so deep that it hurts, this story resonates with my pain. There are truly no words to describe how I feel love, but the doomed fate of these lovers is really close and captures it beautifully. Tragedy is beauty, beauty is tragedy. It doesn't just evoke the good feelings, but also the sorrow and longing that I feel so deeply.
