Music Piracy Noob, plz help!

Oh boy oh boy has it been hot minute since I've been on here! Not out of choice, of course. Since the UK started requiring age verification to access certain sites, Spacehey didn't have the facilities to accommodate these measures and as a result, space hey just wasn't available in the UK.

"Why don't you just use a vpn?"

I live in student accommodation and they like to block VPN usage. I COULD use a smaller lesser known vpn but honestly I didn't miss blogging THAT much.

It's winter break now which means I'm back in Canada! OH how I've missed my blog layout!!! I wanna update it too. I wonder if I still remember how to navigate all the spaghetti code...

Now, ABOUT PIRACY.

I am a believer and enjoyer of piracy for lots of reasons. But a big reason is that I don't wanna give big companies a single cent. Now about music piracy... SPOTIFY IS EVIL and invested millions to fund the development of war machines. What business does a music app have with making AI drone strike software?? Cuz thats definitely what we need more of right now. More drones, more violence, more wars.

Excerpt from Los Angeles Times:

"Spotify’s Chief Executive Daniel Ek announced that he’d led a funding round of nearly $700 million (through his personal investment firm, Prima Materia) into the European defense firm Helsing. That company, which Ek now chairs, specializes in AI software integrated into fighter aircraft like its HX-2 AI Strike Drone."

Since I have experience casually pirating general media, why not include music too? My brother pays for my spotify premium and he's stopped his payments, so my premium will be gone at the end of the month. Perfect chance to move away from spotify and look for alternatives. Free alternatives... muehehehehe... >:)

I've never pirated music before but my gf said I should make all the songs I want into playlist on YouTube and then use a service that transforms all of them into mp3s, then to transfer those mp3s onto the music app in my phone.

Turns out Apple Music and the music app on our apple phones are different. So I can use the music app to host all my pirated audio files?! Awesome! Although she informed me that it may mean that the audio quality will be more ass than usual. And I kinda care about that.

So if you're a pirate pro, could you please give me some pointers on how YOU get music on your phone? Always good to get more opinions.

TLDR: I want to leave spotify and pirate music, but still want to listen to it on my phone with an easy user interface.

This'll be a good chance for me to start over with my music collection cuz I don't listen to 99.99% of the 4500 songs in my spotify liked. I'll pirate over only the songs I actually care about and listen to.

If push really comes to shove I'll just bite the bullet and get an mp3 player, although I'm sure I won't have to resort to that. But I can't lie, the idea of getting one is greatly appealing to me. If I can de-centralise the important things on my phone, maybe I can curb my phone addiction. If I get a flip phone for calling and texting, and an mp3 player for music, maybe the internet can go back to being a PLACE again, limited to your desktop computer, instead of being a part of you wherever you go.

My phone addiction has gotten BAD. I'm gonna delete my social media apps again. Stick to just the web browser. My gf who uses instagram only on web browser says the mobile version is so clapped now it's actually unusable. This is great! Maybe I will have some hope now.

My eyesight has been suffering and its weakening and worsening day by day. I really gotta get my shit back together.

Lots of things I need to complete over the break. Can't let my phone, and reels, and Vinted (Yes, even vinted has become a problem for me), get in the way of my assignments.

Again, having a hard time focusing. I'll start taking my ADHD meds again and hopefully that'll help me a bit. Errr, at least I hope I can remember to take them...

assuming u dont rlly care about youtube audio compression (if you dont have triple digit dollar headphones i can almost guarantee you dont need anything more) literally just youtube to mp3 converters. because its direct download u dont need a vpn. just find an open src one and use stuff like ublock and localcdn to avoid virus ad popups cuz u never rlly know. as for torrenting like u could do that i guess but its not rlly worth the effort to torrent anything less than 500mb in size or whatever (so anything but movies and games...)

isps only target torrent traffic so u only need a vpn for that. they dont actually monitor anything going thru the network just the kind of traffic it is

Thank you for the tips! I actually do use triple digit dollar headphones that were gifted to me by my brother... Specifically the AirPods pros with noise cancellation. I'm still going to give it a shot though. Maybe I won't even notice! and if I do, well, I'll figure something out. I actually have no idea what torrent means, I'm kinda an all around noob to pirating. I just go to pirated movie streaming sites and lib.gen and stuff for my kindle. Although this doesn't sound too far off from what I do with e-books.

ah i meant like corded headphones. bluetooth headphones are limited by the technology, so the quality difference wont be noticeable listening to compressed audio sources.

I see! That's actually so smart, I didn't realize that was the case. Thank you!

i recommend getting an mp3 player!! i started using one that belonged to my mother and honestly it's great!! it makes listening to music such a cooler experience and it could help a lot with your phone addiction (i'm struggling with that too (╯︵╰,) ), the only problem, at least with mine, is the capacity, so be sure to buy a GOOD one, that can fit all ur music!!
