Amino got shut down

So, Amino has officially been shut down, and I'm actually sad about it.

now, dont get me wrong, i know that place was a breeding ground for groomers and all sorts of bad stuff but at the same time it was a very important part of my life for a nearly 5 years, the only social media i felt comfortable in and where i was able to make a few friends - which was really important considering how isolated i was at the time - it was a great place to meet other artists, who helped me improve my art a lot and actually appreciated it...

What I'm trying to say is that while it is good that there will be one less place for children to be harmed in online... I will still miss it, even though I had no intentions of going back for anything other than screenshoting everything on every single profile i owned there.

Speaking of which, that is the fact that saddens me the most. There is a lot of absolutely ANCIENT oc lore I only ever posted on Amino, and i really wanted to revisit it, even if I'm not gonna do anything with the characters anymore, cuz i have other artistic projects now, its still very special for me but i can barely remember anything and the tought of simply losing all that i created is unbearable.

It's not like I wasn't expecting it to shut down one day - the community as a whole had been dead since like, 2021 - its exactly the reason i was planning on archieving everything, but now i dont know if its really possible.

still, its a very weird feeling to be nostalgic for something everyone is commemorating the downfall of. I suppose a lot of how i feel about the ´´death´´ of amino is not about the app itself, maybe not even about the memories i made, but rather the fact that lately every piece of my childhood seems to be ´´leaving me´´ in some sense the closer i get to actual adulthood and maybe deep down i wonder if there will be anything of old me left by the time i get there.
