Is it hard to find someone with the same interests?

Ok, to start, i live in a small town in the outskirts of FL, and i find that it's so hard to find people with the same interests, which for me is Tech, Retro Video Games, and Anime (like most Geeks i guess.) and most of the people in my HS' only knowledge of Technology is their phones and/or the Chromebooks, or the only knowledge of Anime to them is DBZ,Naurto, One Piece, and not any of these actually good anime, that not a lot of people know. I wish i could go back to the city, because there, i can find anyone with the same interests (because there is a bigger populace of people in the City than a Town.) Now, most of the people that i see that has the same interests as me, are on the Internet, which is a kick in the teeth, because you know the talk from your Parents, Guardians, Teachers "Don't talk to strangers on the Internet!", even though you live in a dingy town that most of the activities you can do with other people don't even interest you at all, even if you try, and the only place you can actually find friends with the same interests as you is on the Internet (Facebook, SpaceHey,Discord,Reddit,etc.) 

Maybe it's because i'm an introverted motherfucker and wouldn't touch a new interest with a 10 inch pole, or maybe it's the Autism, idk.
